  1. That's it. He joined today and will probably never come back... poor git. Yet another newbie beaten on the head with the sad, over pushed 'rules' in this forum. Sticking 'WARNING' all over his first ever post is just not needed. No wonder this forum has such a bad name everywhere else. It runs fine in compatibility mode on my work computer that has Win 8 on it. Had to re-install Java however
  2. Its gotta be done
  3. I made a factory that had as much as I could cram into it (until the frame rate got so appalling I had to stop). Had a fully automated nuclear reactor with triple sliding concrete access doors, controlled by computers with passwords and an airlock system (the door behind must be closed for the one in front to open). The computers (I think I had 15 all told) all had a speech system that announced the nuclear reactor temperature, door control etc. A lift with lift sound effects, a container ship with working gantry crane that loaded chests. Wind farm that automatically transferred power to my million EU power station via MFE rail carts (just for the hell of it). 3 quarries that ran on MFE's charged by MFE carts that were sent there by computer. A weapons production line, that filled chests and sent them to the container ship by cart. Come up with something pointless and build! If my computer hadn't crapped itself due to all the frame motors etc, I would have finished that world.
  4. Step away from the teleport pipes. Unless you want to spend half your time breaking them, fiddling with them, or generally getting annoyed with their buggyness. I have a pair of stupidly long standard pipes from my quarries now (goodbye framerate), due to the teleport pipes just being so buggy. The power teleport pipes seem to work OK. When I get time, I think I will have to use enderchests or something.
  5. When I said...'what the hell is that', I mean I have never heard of one. Not that I am too lazy to go find out for myself. 99% of what I already know about Tekkit is from Wiki or Youtube. You have to watch what you ask in here - otherwise you get shot down and slaughtered by the know-alls
  6. What the hell is a mob grinder! I tried placing a skeleton spawner - with the plan of murdering the skeletons.... but all spawners just spawn pigs.
  7. You can make a machine to spit out bundles of wheat pretty easily. Block of dirt next to some water (never needs re-hoeing). 2x deployers and a block breaker running off a sequencer. Deployer on one side issues seeds, deployer on the other side issues bonemeal and then the block breaker smashes and retrieves the wheat. Can run pretty damn fast as well. I have 4 'plots' of dirt and that make more wheat than I will ever need. Pipe the wheat to a chest. Pipe the seeds back to the deployer using a filter. Send the wheat on to where you need it. Only problem is bonemeal supply. I take a percentage of the created wheat and turn that into bonemeal using a condenser - I don't know of any other way to obtain that much bonemeal.
  8. Inception, Dark Knight and Dark Knight rises. They are the ones I seem to return to most often. Watch out if your listening to some of the Dark Knight tracks while driving (Dog chasing cars for example).... it tends to lead to speeding tickets
  9. EE.. does it matter? If you don't like EE... disable it. If you like it... leave it in. People will surely play the servers with the functions they like... Or is that not the argument? I have a condenser in my food factory, taking spare eggs from my chicken farm and converting them into bonemeal, and I have another one taking spare wheat and converting them to sugar. That is purely because I could not think of a way to get large quantities of sugar and bonemeal. I tried placing a skeleton spawner (to then kill them for bones), but it bugs and just gives pigs. Sugar canes took far too long to grow. Its not something I really worry about in the grand scheme of things. What will be annoying, is that I can't upgrade - as if condensers are removed/altered, it will trash my system. Looks like I am staying where I am.
  10. Just checked the quarry.... It has four drilling arms ?? Serious graphics issues going on here I think
  11. Something is certainly amiss somewhere. I wondered why from 2x max size quarries I was not getting a whole load of goodies. I followed 4 gems back along the pipe (gave up on the buggy teleport pipes) and watched them enter the building. They went down the wrong pipe in the house - past a diamond pipe set to coal only. So they looked like they were heading for my furnace. Followed them through the floor - looked like they went into the furnace, but nothing inside. So, went back up to the chest where they should have arrived... nothing. In fact... they have disappeared. So that is why I have 'bugger all' to show for my 2x massive quarries. I think I will have to dismantle all the pipes and re-install. See if that fixes it. Arrrggh... bugs!
  12. Mm... seems to be a random thing. Been trying to track gems from the quarries to see if they do go where they are supposed to. I have also found the iron 'one way' pipes cause havoc if the pipe system isn't arranged well. Items can bounce around for ages trying to escape (e.g. Four pipes joining a main pipe, each with an iron non return at the point of connection. All part of the fun
  13. My factory has suddenly developed an issue with sorting in the pipe system. The diamond pipes are letting everything past - or not... You see all the wrong items going down the various pipes, but they never actually arrive in the machine they are being piped to. Is this just another glitch? If you smash the pipe full of the 'wrong stuff'... nothing falls out. I would upgrade to the latest version of Tekkit, but last time I did that - months of work was trashed due to the total re-design of Tekkit. I think that will happen again with the latest update
  14. They are just buggy... If you destroy them, then put them back... they work. Its the useless energy link that is killing me. Even though I am pulsing it on a timer every 12 seconds (any slower than that seems to slow the quarry a lot), it still to totally killing my MFE. The MFE is charged using 20x LV solar panels, 8x wind turbines and a backup furnace generator that fires on any coal that is mined. But, one single rainy day and I am out of juice super quick. I am trying to get the most out of the energy link by running 2x quarries, as it draws max EU anyway. Is there any way to edit the amount of EU the energy link draws? Its so inefficient to always draw maximum power. I wish it just took what was attached.
  15. Ok.. May have sussed it out. I have a condenser with a bone in it. Bone = 144 emc The contents are pumped out to a macerator that is heavily overclocked. That produces 5 bonemeal for every bone at 48 emc. That is piped back into the condenser to make more bone. The result is an ever increasing amount of bonemeal being produced, which I they siphon off for my growing uses
  16. OK - the wheat production system works. A lot more complicated than planned... but hey. The produced wheat is sent to a large chest, and the seeds that are also produced are piped back into the system for sowing. Various filters ensure a constant equal supply of seeds and bonemeal. However.... Bonemeal? Damn expensive stuff at 48 Emc. I was hoping to make the system fully self supporting, but with the bonemeal costing twice the Emc of the resulting wheat, I am stumped. I thought of having skeleton spawners in dedicated room, with block breakers or something to kill them and obsidian pipes to pick up the bones, but spawners don't work in Tekkit (why not?). They all just produce pigs. Any ideas with regards to bones or bonemeal production?
  17. Mmm... doesn't matter how I do this, I end up with the same issue.... Ensuring the supply chests are equally filled. There are now 8 individual chests that feed 8 individual filters and depolyers, 4 seeds and 4 bonemeal. The harvesting works great, loads of wheat produced and returned by block breaker to a central chest. BUT... that chest also fills with the seeds I need distributed between the original 4 seed supply chests. Tekkit just randomly bungs them into any of the 4 chests connected to a pipe. One fills up nearly full.... the others never gets any. Perhaps I will have to have a double supply chest and try to wedge 4x individual supply pipes and redstone engines around it? One to each chest
  18. Looking like a smash it all up and start again type of day!
  19. Doesn't work anyway for some reason. I have 1 seed and 1 bonemeal in the filter, tagged with a colour to match the destination pipe, mounted against the side of a chest full of bonemeal and seeds. It only ever pulls out the bonemeal - never the seeds. I was under the impression that it would pull out whatever was set in the filter. Spent too long on it now... its time to walk away for a bit
  20. yea... was working on that idea. However that means I need to make 6 filters - One for each bonemeal and seed. Not to mention the labour intensive task of making 6 different paint brushes.... Switching receipe to cheat mode is looking mighty attractive at the moment
  21. Hi all I have a row of 6 deployers, sideways mounted and they are basically planting seeds and then applying bonemeal on a sequence. A block breaker then harvests the crops. I mounted a filter behind each deployer, with one seed and one bonemeal in it. The idea being that on every pulse, the deployer would be restocked with the item it just deployed. However, I was under the impression that filters could draw the supplies along pneumatic pipes from a remote chest into the filters (but they don't). Do they only draw from directly adjacent chests? This is an issue because then I have the same problem ensuring the chests stay equally stocked. I want to ensure I only place one seed and one bonemeal in each deployer every activation.... any ideas? If I just pump supplies to the deployers using pipes and a redstone engine, the just go all over the place.
  22. This is mad. Just switched on... the teleport pipe at the quarry end now says 4 pipes attached! There are only two in the whole map
  23. Mmm - no worky and I am stumped. Must be glitchy on the pipes attached counter, as my other world that has a single set of teleport pipes only ever showed one attached. Think I will give up, and make a shed load of glass fibre cable instead!
  24. OK... Power teleport pipes. New Tekkit build. One end.. full MFE-Powerlink-wooden conducive pipe - power telport pipe. Set to freq 100 (also tried a gold conductive pipe) Quarry the other end, gold conductive pipe with the power teleport pipe on that. Set to 100 receive. Transmit teleport shows 2 pipes attached? I only made a pair, and no one else is on my private home server. New map - no other teleport pipes for sure. Also... they don't work. No power getting though, even if I change the pipes around. Any ideas? I hate these poxy things, but can't see how to get juice out to the quarry without the equally poxy combustion engines.
  25. Its happened.... bored with Tekkit
