Well that was a waste of time....
Stevolution replied to Stevolution's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Thanks DarthMoogle. Just got to work out how the hell to do that. If you shouldn't really do single player Tekkit, why the hell is single player in the launcher? What is wrong with single player Tekkit anyway? Technic just doesn't have the same stuff in it that I am used to working with edit.. OK. Made a Tekkit server (copied the one I had). Deleted all the world folder files in it (nether, end etc). Edited the properties folder to the name of my world I want to transfer over from single player. Copy/pasted the save folder of the single player world into the server folder Even put the seed of the single player map in the properties file. Nothing. I just get a new map with no sign of anything I know (house not at at known co-ords) Ideas? -

I have a localhost server setup that I play with my son, but this large build is in single player Tekkit (I didn't know it had issues) . So, is there any way of getting this single player world to be the localhost world? If I have to start my world all over again..... YET again, I am gonna give up. -

I thought that. It is waiting for a button press on a bundled cable input, but how can you ever avoid that situation? I have sensors on my build that will alter the routine dependant on their input (eg... press the button to start the sliding frame doors) -

Yea, but that means my lovely Tekkit world is lost if I jump over to Technic. If I run a program in TEKKIT on a buildcraft computer. My processor maxes out and then its curtains. -
automatic crafting table not working
Stevolution replied to butwanna's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
I had a lot of issues with the auto-crafting. Sometimes you can pipe straight in and it works, other times you have to have a chest to the side and let it take the items automatically. However, I found that several times I had to smash the table and replace it to get it working. -
Spend DAYS building a rather damn amazing fully automated reactor, warehouse, rail layout etc.... all wired up with bundled cables ready for some serious computercraft programming to control it all. Made my first test routine... check a button input, and if yes - light a lamp. The computer instantly crashed due to processor load and now every time I run the 10 line program, it lags the laptop so badly its unplayable. Also, I can no longer exit Tekkit without it freezing at the saving blocks page. Is computercraft really that processor heavy? I have 6 computers in my build, all awaiting programming. This Java platform really isn't that great for graphic heavy games is it. Looks like this build may have come to an end As an edit... I was considering getting myself a gaming PC, just so that I could carry on with these graphic intensive Tekkit projects. But... will it ever be lag free? Is it a limit of the actual programming of Technic/Tekkit, or purely down to my laptop just not being fast enough (which I always knew it wasn't). For instance, my frame motor based sliding doors... basically disappear when operated and re-appear when they get to the end. Is that always going to be the case, or would a better graphics card actually show the doors sliding? Would a quad core i7 Intel based system with a decent graphics card + 8Gb memory enable me to basically build what I wanted? Last thing I want to do is batter 1k on a gaming PC to find it was the game that could not handle what I am asking of it. Anyone with a decent PC... please let me know!

Tekkit - Nuclear Reactor SAFE AND EFFICIENT.
Stevolution replied to Jamie Thorley's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Well done Malicered.... get the thread back on track I don't understand all this type 1, type 2 stuff... I don't know what the difference is. Is a type 1 basically a lot safer than a type 2 - but therefore outputs less power, or is there more to it than that. Then there is the whole cooling thing. My reactor ticks along nicely. I never have to pay it any attention except to replace the 8x Uranium cells every so often. I have no idea what its EU output is (How do I check?) -

Except I can't easily drop em. Not without moving out of my nice rental. Oh well... via proxy with no updates for the forseeable future then -
I tried a chest next to the table. Still didn't work. Got the hump with it - smashed the crafting table and logged off. Came back 20 minutes later.... put a crafting table back next to the chest and it works? Must have been a bug

Hi I am sending full water buckets down a Pneumatic pipe - after being drawn by a filter, down to an auto crafting table. That is set up to make water cells. But it doesn't matter where I put the pipe into the crafting table, it puts the buckets in all the spare slots - not on top of the bucket in the crafting receipe. As far as I can work out, you can't come out of a filter with any other type of pipe. I tried putting a chest between them, and then going into the crafting table with cobblestone pipe instead - but it refuses the contents of the pipe. Any suggestions?

I lost the will to live after talking to Sky. So... we are still no clearer as to why Sky suddenly stopped access last week -
Automated nuclear reactor feed/retrieval.
Stevolution replied to Stevolution's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
MFFS Reactor controller? I will have to have a look into that. Yes, at the moment, I just simply make sure that there is only ever a single space available.... take out one depleted cell, then replace it with another. I never did find out if ice cools quicker than water. I was going to have a system that removed the coolant cells and replaced them with ice - should I need to cool quicker. One odd thing.. part of my production line is tin ore - into ingots - into a storage chest. If I take these ingots out the chest with a redstone engine+wood pipe and send them to an auto-crafting table, then all is well. They fill up the diamond shaped crafting patttern for empty cells without a hitch. If I take them out that chest with a filter+pneumatic pipe, then they just pile into the crafting table all in a stack, not equally dividing over the receipe. That is a pain, as I wanted to send 4 ingots at a time which it easier with the filter. -

BUT.... does this site use IPv6? I still cannot find out. If it does, then I assume it was quietly changed over from IPv4 a week or so ago, as I could get in fine before then. I have no idea how this works, but I would have thought it possible to keep both systems running alongside each other until everyone was compatible? Can't change my provider, its part of the building I rent. -
What is your favorite thing to do on Saturday?

My Saturday will involve girlfriend (well wife now actually), camera, coffee and Tekkit. Work out which goes with which. -
Automated nuclear reactor feed/retrieval.
Stevolution replied to Stevolution's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Got there in the end. I have ingots into crafting table = make empty buckets. Feed those into deployer in front of a water source. Pulse deployer with timer and then after short repeater delay, pulse filter (with full bucket inside) that is mounted behind the deployer. Send those into the crafting table that is receiving the empty cells... coolant cells. Finally Trouble is, the whole setup now makes FAR too many coolant cells! -

OK. After an entire evening of messing around with item detectors, filters, pipes and timers (and lots of tea + turning stuff with screwdrivers).... I think I have the solution. Still have not worked out how to fill a bucket automatically however I wish these Wiki pages would actually tell you which way around these machine go! -
Ahh.... another 1am Tekkit session Bit new to all the nuclear reactor stuff.... I have been playing around with a system to automatically feed a nuclear reactor with Uranium and coolant cells. Although in theory... I should not need to replace coolant cells if its set correctly. Question... If I set up my reactor with the pattern of coolant and Uranium cells that I want, how can I ensure that I replace a coolant cell with another coolant cell, and uranium for uranium (without messing up the layout). I am thinking of checking the reactor with a timer every so often and drawing out a single empty or near depleted cell. How would I do that? Will a filter directly attached to the reactor work? If I withdraw one at a time and then push a new one back in, it should fill the space in theory. Also, ho do you automatically craft a coolant cell? I know its a bucket of water and an empty cell, but how do you craft a bucket of water? I can make empty buckets all night long. Finally, does an Ice block cool a lot better than a coolant cell, or is there not much in it. Thanks

Yes - I have been using Redpower2 wires.... far better. I don't get all the pictures.... even in standard Minecraft. Very odd. I will give the high speed rails a go. Only pain is you have to slow for corners!
-
How are people powering their cart railcraft systems? I started just by putting a powered rail every 6 blocks, but that suffers stalled carts a lot. So then I put nothing but powered rails, with redstone torches underneath everyone. Seems totally overkill - especially as I have miles of track. Finally I have ended up with bare redstone wire (which seems to run quite a way before running out of power), controlled by a wireless receiver every so often. Does the redstone current fade (therefore less power to the track) over distance?, or is the output constant along it until it reaches its maximum cable length? Hope that makes sense As a total side question that I don't think is worth its own thread....... when I place a painting, I can only ever get half the images in the KZ.png file (in the art folder of Sphax textures). Any idea why I can't obtain all of them?

Sky Broadband Blocked technicpack.net(?)
Stevolution replied to IAmOmicron's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Right after a PAINFUL 50 minutes on the phone to Sky engineers (is the time set correctly on your laptop sir. Please clear your cookies)... WTF. Technic.net is not on their block list. I mentioned the IPv6 and IPv4 theory - in that this site uses (I believe) IPv6 and SKY cannot access that. The engineers did not really seem to understand any of that. They just kept telling me that Windows 7 is IPv6 compatible.... which isn't the issue. If that is the case, then this site must have updated something that has caused the problem. I have mailed Kakermix about it - but no answer. I think its more likely that something has changed at this end, rather than SKY's. So it doesn't look like all the SKY customers are going to be able to use Technicpack easily for a long time. -

Why the hell would they block this site anyway? I can get to Cloudflare.com fine. Its seems to only be this site Tracert = stops at Sky. -

My question is then.... not being the super tech minded guy I would like to be.... Can I still update my Technic launcher? Where do the updates come from? If they are from the same blocked IP (or whatever the issue is), then I am surely now stuck on the version I have. I'm going to get my ZXSpectrum back out the loft -
Thanks My system is complicated enough, without having to move all my timers etc out to remote places. I am also trying to keep my wireless circuits down to a minimum. I have changed quite a few sound effects in my Tekkit. Just personal tastes.
-
Anyone know where the ogg (I assume its an ogg) sound file is for the annoying 'tick' you get with timers etc? I don't want to disable all my SFX, so I was going to simply change that file to something slightly less irritating (or silent). I know most of them are in the resources folder, but I can't find that one. Perhaps its generated in another way? I read something about pressing F7 to kill the sound - but all I get is a message saying that Matmos is still preparing the ambience generator (whatever that means) Thanks

My access via Sky has been stopped. I read it was something 'possibly' to do with not supporting IPv6. But that would only be the case if this website changed to IPv6 in the last week or so. Here via painfully slow proxy site Technology is getting right up my backside lately... nothing works properly for long
