You're new here, so i'm going to explain things: This is not MCForums, nobody owes you anything, the technic team is going to work in the capacity that suits THEM best, not you, not 20someodd slackjawed yokels who want to know every little detail about the dev process, not the community as a whole. The community as a whole exists to reap the profits of work that the technic team is doing for free, and part of the price of that is not bugging them for updates every half an hour. All of the rules exist for reasons that, despite what your opinion may be, make perfect sense to a large portion of the people who post here regularly. Acting like things should change for you is not only selfish and arrogant, but if you had taken a cursory glance around at other people who demand changes here, you would have known that it is also futile and stupid.

Clear cache. If that doesn't work you're probably doing something wrong. The launcher handles logging in exactly the same way the traditional minecraft.exe does.

First of all, try using the traditional minecraft launcher with your new password. if it's not working yet, then mojang probably hasn't updated your account info quite yet.

Updates happen all the time now. It's because the launcher lets the technic crew update whenever there's something to update, rather than having to wait for enough things to justify a new installer. Go for it, it'll make your game better 8D

These are all things that i can confirm as a person who regularly watches and enjoys the show. It's very similar to what anime fans did before anime was so normal in the western world, and to a smaller degree any time some kind of subculture comes into existence.
