  1. I mean let me know what sort of things you would like to have in the starter pack, that is if you wanted any help making some of that stuff.
  2. thanks, yeah I have found nothing so far other than just using SPHAX for the template and as I mentioned it gets dicey when I am using the mashup for the install, I think just due to the extra memory it takes, looked everywhere for the base files that I am supposed to be replacing with LB regular minecraft textures, but found nothing really.
  3. any where to get a clean template for tekkit? I am working with Sphax and LBphotorealism to mash them up, but I would prefer to make my own everything for it, from a clean slate, (sphax or LB loaded as 128 work fine, but when I added the parts of LB to sphax and over wrote all the stuff that LB had, it now requires that I log in and loose connection to any server the first time after starting up my client. after that I can log in just fine, but I would love to fix this issue. These are some shots of what I have done to modify sphax to add the photorealism stuff and get it to blend in. Ores and marble brick compact solars low med and high from the bottom and side: Tops of those solar compacts: how the ores that are ripped directly from Sphax look when blended with LBphotorealism stone: (this was the first one, and should be redone I know.) Here you can see some of the progress positioning, because some of the sphax textures are still in place for the condenser The collectors are a combination of the LB and Sphax glowstone, the Gold block edges from LB and some swirling of the red dark and standard collector spots from sphax a bit of a shot of the plain marble next to my marble bricks. (used a photo of some real marble and then tweaked it to blend on the edges, The non-sphax ores like ruby and emerald are photos also of real ore mixed with LB's stone texture, but I really do not like their stone, so I will redo everything once I create a stone I am satisfied with)

  5. and actually on the lazy thinkers there is a problem too with the do'ers in that they will look for things to improve that they can improve whether or not there is something that has to be fixed or not, thus leaving the hard thinking for another day or someone else, This culminating till we have sloppy coding all over the place from social networks to games, to even OS's. I am a firm believer that this is a big part of the reason that linux is still a second rate OS and that microsoft is still a standard. **addendum to clarify they will do things that are easy for them to do even if it did not need to be done, to get people to stop paying attention to real problems that they can not see a solution for, and avoid even trying so as not to fail.
  6. still amazes me, I have a bit of skill with modeling, but that is it, I could not get an IDE running so modifying anything I have seen to see what it does, is out of the question. my world mods are just as simple as renaming files and making sure the code can handle the new name, nothing more. I guess I need to not give up my real world engineering and building skills heh heh, *best I have done so far is build a CNC mill from scratch with no plans, just observing how my manual mill worked. * also I am impressed with your ability to actually do research, so little is taught about doing that. just how to pass tests, which is sad really.

  10. awesome. if you get time to help me with something, let me know. *trying to figure out how to mod class files so I can raise or lower the sea level, and need a way to force an entire world to have lower/higher amounts of certain types of blocks/ or just some help with setting up an IDE here, I have had zero luck with anything, eclipse, etc. only thing that has worked even half assed was dirtyJOE, and that is not letting me mod the parts I am guessing are where I need to be modding ;)
  11. ok I guess in a bit when I finish testing the plugins I found, I will just go make a slew of like 5 backup disposable IM client accounts on skype. and I suppose some yahoo ones too, so people have an option and turn on audible notifications on pidgin. If I start running out make more, not like skype or yahoo is going to stop giving away free accounts anytime soon heh heh.
  12. oh I am referring to having something in the text for people just logging into my server, that will cause an audible notification that they have questions. Is there maybe a plugin that does this instead? that would be more useful really, That is what the Skype name reasoning is, if they log into Skype because no Admins are responding to them in game, then I will get the Skype noise played when they try to connect to me. But DXWarlock brings up a valid point. I have ooVoo too, but have not tried using it, Is there something else that is more used that would be able to make a noise? I have pidgin too with everything linked to it, other than Skype, and I just remembered it does not make noise because I turned all that off ages ago for completely unrelated reasons. Guess I could turn it on, but posting IM info for it would run into the same possible problems as best I can see. so i guess unless there is an alternate method of communication that has better filtering or something, then Throw away accounts that I can dis-guard if someone does get wonky on me, is the only option I can see.

Hello, I am looking to get the info, (searched all over the wiki but either the search utility was being unco-operative, I do not know what terminology to use, or the help does not exist there.) on how to change the text you see when first logging into a server, I want to put my skype account in there for new people joining so if they have questions they can send a message to it, as it makes noise and I can not be at my computer all the time, but this way I can hear that a new message has come in from anywhere with in hearing range, (working on getting a wireless head set too, so answering voice would be easy too.) so anyone know how to mod that text that goes out? I have seen servers that did it, just not sure even if it requires a special mod for this or not. Any help especially a tutorial I can go to and bookmark for future reference would be excellent.

    yeah I noticed it has been more than a year since they released the last video. I seriously hope it wasn't and that it works with Lightwave models. I don't code personally, but I do model in lighwave and have over 13 years of experience so....

  19. looks like you got all the help you need but if you still require assistance, let me know. I am new to it but I have been learning pretty fast, I have a server I am running here if you want to see what I am capable of. Mind you that server has something on it you have to do a custom install of a mod on your client (Kaevator Slopes) but I put instructions up here also I am already running mcMMO on that server as well as transporter, so I can link other servers to it and vice versa, via in game portals. as for a rank I would not really care unless it is required (like refereeing and such as that would require admin privileges to ban people for breaking rules and unsticking people stuck somewhere) you can message me here, or on any number of my IM clients. (will go and update that info now on my profile ;)

True on the modding, I have only done some base class modding so far, to make that all desert world generation aspect for a server. and really that was nothing spectacular, I just took the desert class and copied if over and over renaming it with the other biomes, then went inside the files and changed all the references to the biomedesert.class to what ever the new .class name was so it did not cause the program to freak out since it could not reference to it's self. Did the same thing with ocean too, but that did not work out as well. I still need to figure out how to change the sea level to make that work properly, and that has proven beyond my non-existent skills heh heh. ** ack, I forgot to do what I originally intended with this post, thank you for the clear answer to my question about the whole necro issue.
  21. heh good luck. lightwave will not do that as best I have seen. I have heard that newer versions will export DXF files. and .wrl files are kinda like html files but with tons of co-ordinates, thus why I was hoping it would work with the mod. I can model something and post the .wrl file, so you can see what it is like, as for attempting to convert, I saw that blender would do this, so I am grabbing it to see what it can do.
  22. so yeah someone actually updated the slopes mod. (found both client and server versions) so all it took was modifying the block ID configuration files. anyone want to check it out, let me know, I have it running on my home tekkit server now. If I fix this properly I will update it here, so everyone can see it to use it for their mod on my server, not sure if different numbers on the client will clash with server ID blocks or not, and if you are on someone else's server then obviously these numbers mean nothing ;)

I am not getting the dead threads thing here, the other ones I can see it now. but this one I was posting here because I requested the help with slopes from the OP and figured I would show him where it was done, and how I added it just in case anyone else finds the thread though I suppose I should make a thread just for slopes tekkit install, and just link to that. **edit, also I suppose I should ask since I have not seen it in the forum rules, what is the expiration of a thread? this one is not even a month old, is it something like 3 weeks or less?
