  1. I'm asking myself questions. One of them is this - if the recommended action is to start a new world on a major update, then what is the chance of this happening again? I look at friends videos where they have worlds running for more than a year on vanilla, and all their buildings and inventions carry forward with them. Now ... I know that the modders put in one heck of a lot of effort ... and I greatly appreciate it. Putting this many mods all together, and the technical innovation and coding that must go in to things is stunning; and I'm perfectly willing to send a few dollars to the modders on an irregular basis as I can afford it ... However, I don't want to have to abandon my worlds with major releases. If things like this aren't picked up, and no one can help, then these problems render an awful lot of time and effort to be wasted. I'd really like to hear the opinions of the devs on this, because I have a very, very tough decision to make ... whether to stay with Tekkit (which I enjoy considerably) or move back to vanilla.
  2. First time was not much, only one track, one coal-coke to see how far that would take it. Second time was full on all things with exception of gravel. No, I haven't tried training it. I have found a problem, though. Without being able to tell when I'm going to hit slimes, I'm boring at level 40. However, I've discovered the behaviour when it hits water (I was hoping it would just mince the water source blocks) so it looks like the tunnel borer is going to be useless to me at this level. Back to the drawing board!
  3. Hi Folks, Did a search and didn't manage to find anything on this. I made myself a brand new tunnel bore; bright and shiny. Fitted it with a diamond head, some rails, gravel and then went back to base about 6 chunks away for some fuel. Came back and it had lost everything I put in to it. It's done that twice now. Could this be related to the deployer problem that I'm having? Any ideas please?
  4. Even with all the extra info, does no one have any ideas please?
  5. I'm not sure if this has any bearing, but when I filled a bottle manually, (from a cauldron) it jumped out of my hand (I was only holding the one) and it came back in to my inventory as if I had just acquired it from floating on the floor. I think that is its normal behaviour, but I can't be certain. I tried the same thing filling the water bottle from a water source (the four square of water) and it stayed in the same inventory slot, ie. it stayed in my hand. I also tried putting an already filled watter bottle in the deployer and triggered it ... the water bottle stayed there and didn't vanish.

  7. Just tried using a hoe in a deployer to hoe an earth block, and that worked.
  8. I just took the chance to reboot the server as well. No change in the deployer's action.
  9. Yeh, they're classy and go with so many other blocks and everything still looks like it belongs. The deployers are loaded with a single bottle.
  10. I thought that the deployers being made before the conversion, might be a problem with the deployers, so I made some new ones, but the problem persists.
  11. Here's the picture ...
  12. I'll get a screen shot up tonight as I'm on ADSL and am currently uploading a video, but I tried again with no extra gear, just a four square of perpetual water, surrounded by marble block, and two deployers on one side. Simply loading them with glass bottles and giving them a redstone signal, resulted in the bottles vanishing from the deployers. In case it makes a difference, the world was converted up to the latest. I tried it again just now and the result was the same. The bottles vanish. The server logs have no events to report.
  13. Hi Folks, OK ... I created a potion engine. Part of which was, a four square of water. One of the sides was a deployer. When the deployer had an empty glass bottle in it, and the deployer was fired, the bottle filled with water. Now, since the update, when the deployer receives a pulse, the bottle just vanishes. The only difference is that I've changed the direction in the new engine, instead of being fed from the right and extracted from the left, it is now fed from the left and extracted to the right. The working version is 2min 40 secs in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kluTwzrHVkw
  14. That sounds great - if Rei's mini map allows people to manually insert the seed, then it should be able to display the slime chunks without needing to talk with the server ... superb! For those who are scared of cheating, they simply don't release the seed number. Great stuff :-)
  15. I'm hitting problems - we're wanting to make an underground cart railway and without knowledge of the slime chunks, we're running the risk of small slimes spawning in the tunnel system. I've read this - http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/397835-find-slime-spawning-chunks-125/ - but its not working for me.Is it broken, or is it a browser set up thing here? Not being able to see the slime chunks any more is really going to cramp our style. Ouch.
  16. Many thanks, that gives me hope!
  17. I first encountered the problem when my first lab hit a slime chunk. I tried all sorts after reading the wiki and asking advice, but I drew a blank and had to relocate the whole lab. Things like spawning on half blocks wasn't on the pages that I read. The documentation I have found to be bitty; some things aren't documented at all while some things are documented several different ways because things have changed over time and hardly any one puts the dates on their entries. Plus, I'm in a survival server, which is all my home system can support, with other people in the game. If I do anything, I have to do it legit, and dealing with this kind of thing, that far down beneath the ocean ... things can get ugly, very fast ... and I worked hard for this quantum armour, damit!
  18. Cool. Got the seed. I should have grepped for Seed instead of seed.
  19. Do slimes spawn on half blocks? If I'm unlucky enough, our of my 3x3 chunk underground lab, to have a slime chunk as part of that group (and it's quite likely) what is my best defence against slimes spawning. Can a golem kill slimes?
  20. So how do I get my seed now, and how do I use it to work out where the slime chunks are?
  21. Wow, so I'm going to need the seed from somewhere, presumably console on the server now then? Can someone please tell me where I'd find it; I've never needed it before but I do remember it showing in the client before this version.
  22. Urk. That's bad news. Does anyone have a link to how slime chunks behave now, and how we can spot them, to avoid them, and thus build safe, underground labs again :-)
  23. No one have any info on this please?
  24. Running 3.0.3 client, I think I'm a 3.0.4 server - On using the Crafting Table Mk III to make an interdiction torch, if I make each set of two individually, I get an extra philosophers stone out of the transaction. Obviously, I can't post this in the bug thread.
  25. Hi Folks, I've been running the latest dev build for a while and every now and then I've been clearing the cache in the hope that my minimap will show the slime chunks, but still no slime chunks are showing. Does anyone have any info on them please?
