Mobs Dealing 3x Normal Damage on Tekkit 2.0 Server

Question

Posted

This has confused me greatly. It seems that on my server, (Which I just updated from 1.1.4) all mobs are insane. The difficulty on the server is set to normal. (1)

On my single player client of Tekkit 2.0, mobs deal normal damage. So I know something about the server is making this occur. Any suggestions as to what the issue is?

I'd like to note that all other aspects of my server (Block ID's, inventory, etc.) is normal and working properly.

WOW! Okay I see what the issue is. I died from a creeper while wearing some armor. Then I went back down, picked everything up, and ran into a skeleton. While wearing No armor, each arrow only did 1.5 hearts of damage, but after donning my mix-matched armor, I was suddenly nailed with over 5 hearts of damage from the arrow.

I respawned, and made the exact same armor mix-match as I had before. (Iron chest, Bronze Legs, Iron boots) and found that all mobs were then doing normal damage to me.

So, the armor I was wearing originally was glitched from the update I guess? But now there's a new problem it seems.

Even if I'm wearing newly made armor, (Bronze, Iron, or both, it doesn't matter) The mob's damage is still affecting me as if I wasn't wearing any armor at all.

Suggestions? (Difficulty is set to 2 now)

I ran into this problem while using my own cobbled together version of "Tekkit 2.0" before it was actually released. However after switching over to the official files this problem was magically solved. I never found out the cause so I can only suggest a process of elimination given that the problem is repeatable. Disable mods in the modloader file to try and narrow down which ones are causing the issue.

So now, the glitch is that Armor (Vanilla or Technic) does not help defend against any mobs. Any suggestions on this fix?

Not exactly! This has happened on my server, to one of our players. I tested it extensively with her. It turns out the set of bronze armor she was wearing was causing her to take far more damage than wearing no armor at all. So, it was as though the armor were giving her a negative armor value, somehow, and amplifying the damage.

I advised her to destroy that set of armor. The next set of bronze armor she made worked properly. Very strange.

from what i am seeing, armor is not displaying damage properly at all. and if you drop armor after death, it acts as though it is completely broken when you put it back on.

This problem is also happening with IC2 Tools like the Drill and Chainsaw. when they drop from death, they loose all charge.

It almost seems like armor breaks in 2-3 hits. I tested a new bronze armor set on a zombie and took 1 heart the first hit, 2 hearts the second hit, 2 1/2 the third, and 3 hearts the fourth hit. The armor durability doesn't move at all for this though. This was on difficulty 3 and I would like to see some fix for it since armor is a huge part of survival play.

I had to disable creepers on my server because they were one-shotting people in fresh diamond armor (no mix and match). I crafted a fresh suit of iron armor by hand and went out to test as well... still got one shot by it. So weird. Other monsters didn't seem to have the problem. Just creeper explosions... or I'm just man enough to not care about other monsters too much even if they hit harder.

Seemed like it was fixed. I was playing on 2.1 last night and didnt get killed by a creeper until it was well within my personal body space. Before even being somewhat close it killed me.

Having the same problem on my server. I'm no expert at IC2 but I'm fairly certain that a Nano Sword can't take out a fully charged Nano Suit. And the losing charge on death bug is extremely annoying. Has anyone tried disabling Convenient Inventory or Inventory Tweaks? The losing the charge may have something to do with that.

EDIT: Tested in single player on NORMAL difficulty. Newly crafted Dark Matter armor = 1.5 hearts damage per zombie hit. Red Matter armor gets 1 to 1.5 hearts damage. Bronze armor is 0.5 to 1 heart of damage per zombie but it loses durability really fast. Gold armor gets 1 heart. Chainmail gets 1 to 1.5 damage. Iron gets 0.5 to 1 damage. Diamond armor does 0 to 0.5 hearts. Quantum and Nano (Fully Charged) Take no damage. Zombie does 2 hearts of damage WITHOUT armor. And in SSP there is no loss of charge upon death. I tested a Klein Star, a drill, an electric wrench, and the Quantum and Nano suits. I am 99% sure that both of these are server issues. Not client.
