Darren Laing
OK, so I've been looking at some of these dedicated game server sites for tekkit, and I was looking at getting a server for 10 people. But when choosing the server, and asking for 10 slots it gives me 600mb of memory with the option of upgrading. Surely 600mb of memory is no where enough for 10 people, so if I upgraded to say 1024mb how many people would that realistically support? Can anyone give me a rough estimation on how much memory I should have for each person?
Sp0nge
10 noobs, 1 gig is fine, 10 advanced players, 4 gig should be recommended.
Expozay
Check out http://Server4you.com Great deals on dedicated boxes at the moment, reason their so cheap is for being managed.
Dodge34
On my private family server we are currently 2 experienced players and 1024mb wasn't enough, not sure how they calculate that 600mb should run for 10 players, totally impossible.
Expozay
@Dodge34 Agreed, 600mb wouldn't even be able to support 2 at a stable rate.
ampayne2
600mb wouldnt support my server with nobody on it :P
Darren Laing
I thought as much. Some of these dedicated game servers should be shot for false advertising. No matter though managed to find a reasonably priced server that's providing 3gb of memory and so far fingers crossed no problems :)
