okamikk Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 This made me nerd-gasm a bit(read, all over the room) what do you guys think? Quote
Markarthian Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 EPIC! I like the idea of it. I also read something, a while ago, about this but more extreme. There's a company out there (can't remember the name) developing chips for your brain. For example, you could access the internet with your brain. Also they're developing a chip for augmented reality: you actually feel what you would feel if the game was real, you would see and hear what you would if it was real. That's some stuff for a nerdgasm ;) Quote

Moderators Munaus Posted September 28, 2012 Moderators Posted September 28, 2012 WOW! Finally! I can watch pr0n even when my parents are home! Oh yea, games... wider view... Cool. Quote
The_DarthMoogle Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Oh... Well shit, now we're gonna have tons of rich kids with poor eyesight. Nice concept, not worth my money for another ten years. Quote
Moderators Munaus Posted September 28, 2012 Moderators Posted September 28, 2012 Snip I just had a crazy idea... These "glasses" combined with this swordsmanship game. That would be quite enchanting... Also pr0n, definitly worth the poor eyesight that comes with it. I could spend many many many many hours on that... Quote
BurningCake Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Oh this thing. I was just reading about it yesterday. Apparently Minecraft might get AR support in the future anyway. Quote

That's some stuff for a nerdgasm That's great for sight and sound, I guess, when it's developed properly and it becomes viable for gaming (Not likely in my opinion), but I do not wanna feel what I'm doing. Given that almost every game I play has to have violence integrated somehow, if I die in-game I don't wanna feel it. Realism only goes so far - I can use my imagination to fill in the gaps and be fully immersed. ;) Quote

It would be like all those sci-fi TV shows and such: Once you die in a game or MMORPG or something, you either die in real life or you get stuck in the game forever... o_O Quote

I'm sure they will integrate a config option for that kind of things. Quote

The_DarthMoogle Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 No guys. I'm serious, these goggles will fuck up your eyesight if used more than eight hours per week. If your eyes don't have enough variation in the range distances to focus on, they start going nuts. Having these inches away from your face will wreck you. Although Munaus' suggestion of playing this on CLANG would be nice, (Check out that game for the love of god. I Kickstarted it and I got a fucking sword) VR as opposed to AR simply isn't healthy until future generations have more sturdyness to screens. Quote

Actually, a friend and I donated £6,200. I made that much last year, and I'm still at school, so it's all cool. He gets the sword Monday to Wednesday, I get it Thursday to Saturday and we're both totally stoned on Sunday so that's not an issue. Quote
