adrien Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm curious when the new update for computer craft is coming to tekkit i cant wait http://www.computercraft.info/ Quote
Omicron Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Tekkit is a collection of mods. For Tekkit to update, every single mod must be compatible with the next version of Minecraft. If even one is missing, no update is possible without dropping that mod completely, which instantly breaks everything players have been doing with features from that mod in their existing worlds. It would be less of a problem for a small addon like Immibis' Forcefields or Nether Ores to be missing. One is rarely used, the other is just a terrain generation feature of questionable value. It's a far, far bigger problem if Redpower, Buildcraft and Equivalent Exchange are all missing. That would literally break every single world out there to the point where you might as well start over completely new. Quote
prasselpikachu Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 First, it has to be ported back to 1.2.5, and then there has to be a bukkit port i think. Edit @Omicron I'd wait for a 1.2.5 port of CC 1.43, because 1.3 was ported to 1.1 too. Quote
Omicron Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Depends on whether CC 1.43 can be backported at all... it might rely on a specific feature of Minecraft 1.3+, or on say, a Forge hook that's only available in Forge versions that are only available for Minecraft 1.3+. Tekkit is running Forge build #164, CC 1.43 specifically says it needs #275 or newer. All builds beyond #200 are Minecraft 1.3.2 builds. So backports are fine and dandy, but it's very doubtful if there will be one for ComputerCraft. Quote
gavjenks Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 why would we need to backport? 1.3.2 ports should be exactly what tekkit is looking for right now, yes? Quote

gavjenks Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 What if someone wants the new features on 1.2.5? That wouldn't be tekkit. That would be their own custom modpack server. The OP is about "when the new version of CC is coming to tekkit." That will not require a backport, because tekkit won't be using 1.2.5 anymore. The next version of tekkit should be updating on 1.3.2 Also, if somebody is interested in such a thing, they can simply install CC 1.4 (the last update while they were still on MC 1.2.5), which has all of the actual worthwhile new features that are not currently in tekkit. Has that been ported yet? I'll probably load this up on my server if it has. Then I'll make loads of turtles... Quote
gavjenks Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Yes I believe so. Even the 1.3.2 has been ported, actually. Quote
theprolo Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Looks like it has, so I'll go bug my server host to update it. Should make a change, usually it's him asking me to go check if its updated yet... Quote
