Launcher can't connect to minecraft.net

When i press login it just says can't connect to minecraft.net wanna play in offline mode. And all my account information is correct

It wont connect because amazon had a huge power outage and a lot of people who used their services are down right now. Go to minecraft.net to see for yourself.

I'm just throwing this out there, but the error could be linked to the new pack they are releasing, Hexxit. It could somehow interfere with the connection to servers, and the problem might be addressed when Hexxit is released. Not facts, just a theory.

So from my end the main technicpack.net site is down/showing a cached page from there web service, also i was looking at the console and for a minute i thought it was a legitimate bug that the launcher showed the error "minecraft.net is down" when technicpack.net was down.

Have you migrated your minecraft account to a mojang account?

I had this error then I looked at this post and remembered migration while trying to post on help.mojang.com

When I put in my email it worked.
