_Anjou_ Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Hello fellas. My friend is in need of help. She can't figure out how to download and install mods, and neither can I. She asked me to post this on the forum because she doesn't have an account herself. Can somebody please tell how download and install mods, so I can tell her, so she can stop nagging on me? Quote
Industrial Miner Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Well, you download the launcher from this website and then once you've downloaded it, you select a modpack. Then you login with your premium minecraft accoutn and then it should download all the mods and install them. Make sure none of your antiviruses block the download of the mods. Quote
_Anjou_ Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Sorry, but I'm not referring to any of the modpacks, neither Technic Launcher. My friend needs help to download separate mods for regular Minecraft. Quote
xtremegamor123 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 well magic launcher for minecraft helps, you download the mods and addons they need drop them into magic launcher and it will attempt to play using them, another is an automatic mod installer called pipix it can create backups downgrade MC and install mods i hope this helps Quote
Neowulf Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 The process of installing mods into a minecraft install is extremely error prone, and is what inspired the admins here to create technic in the first place. They've gone through all the effort to create the launcher, packs, and platform so people like you don't have to. My suggestion is you should search on platform for any packs that include the mods you're looking for, and give them a try. It's much easier and can introduce you to mods you never knew existed and yet can't live without. Quote
eeem1214 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Well it starts like this goto your %appdata% then click roaming then .minecraft after you have to see if the mods go in coremods mods or jar like minecraft forge goes to jar Quote
Melfice Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Except you forget that there is no mods or coremods folder in a vanilla Minecraft installation, eeem1214. That's only after you install Forge. Unless something changed the last time I did some modding on my own? That was quite a while back, I must say. EDIT: Ah, I misread that post it seems. Regardless, you'd first need to install Forge, which can be a hassle if you've never done it before. After that it's relatively simple, but still quite error-prone as Neowulf said. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 There is a personal pack making tutorial here if this helps you at all. http://www.technicpack.net/article/view/building-your-own-modpack.7 Quote
