Now that's odd. Emeralds are more or less rare in those biomes within Vanilla, with at least one ore or two in each chunk.

Emeralds spawning in extreme hills is actually a Vanilla feature.

From personal experience in mining in those areas, yes.

You can make it yourself.

Don't know the exact recipe off the top of my head, but I think it's not too expensive. Check it out in NEI.

ohhh okay so if you wanna make Smooth Whitestone you surround sugar with smooth stone. Pretty straight forward.

NEI will make your life much easier, if you don't see the NEI list of blocks and items on the right side when you open your inventory or a craft bench try pressing 'o' to see if it was accidentally closed, if that doesn't work make sure your GUI size is set to normal.

In your inventory there's 'options' down on the bottom left - make sure you are in 'recipe' mode and you can pull up recipes for any block or item that is craftable. Using the arrows you can see alternate recipes that work.

yea I am aware of NEI , I use it a lot in Tekkit Classic, It's just somethings in there would not show me the recipe.
