hallowhead1
Hello, I am using a steam dynamo or whatever you call it, and i am trying to use a steam turbine to make unlimited steam for the steam dynamo to have unlimited energy, but i can't seem to get the steam turbine functioning anyone have any insight to offer? Kr0nZ
I haven't used the steam turbine before, but I pretty sure it takes in steam to create power, and, afaik, there's no way to actually make steam in this modpack
Brigadon
ummm... set up a tree farm, and feed coal to the steam dynamo? I think the steam turbine is a compatibility piece for if you have something like railcraft installed.
hallowhead1
ah, i see, i thought it would create steam for me, see powering the small amounts of equipment from thermal expansion is difficult to think about, because how would i pump fuel to the dynamo that takes fuel, and which fuels do i use? Brigadon
I know that the dynamo can use MFR biofuel. do an nei search on 'bio'. throw in stuff like extra seeds and saplings you get from farming.
hallowhead1
ah i didn't know biofuel was in this mod pack, that makes things a bit easier. Its not like ftb so i need to learn again! haha I have figured out how to use biofuel, but how about magmatic fluids? How do i suck up lava? Brigadon
You cannot, there's no pump in the pack for sucking up lava. unless you feel like bailing with a bucket, there are a couple of tanks, open blocks tanks can be broken and retain their contents (useful for tinker smelter but for engines, not so much)
hallowhead1
dang, so power isn't meant to be infinite and constantly being created, its just the few things you need it for you throw some coal in or some seeds and get some power for what your doing. Interesting,
AcesOyster
There are definitely ways to generate infinite power, but it;s unlikely you'll need that sort of supply anyhow, given that there's no quarrys for gregtech stuff to suck your system dry. Brigadon
seriously, power needs are limited to autofarms and genetics stuff. tree farms can suck up power pretty well, but MFR biofuel generators can handle the needs just fine
fusemc74
better power system..
wabajck
I would be careful about any of the 'cheaty' power systems as they are likely to get fixed in a future update. Theres plenty of videos out there about how to get a good power system setup.
Kalbintion
That type of power set-up can cause chunks to go away (ie: anything in that chunk will be lost) due to chunk corruption.
Loader
Not just that generation chunk either - any chunk along the output line where the infinite power is going. If you're going to use it, isolate it with an energy cell and normal power along the main output wires/conduits. Edit: I'd strongly suggest not using it if you care about your world at all, and certainly putting it anywhere near something you want to keep is a terrible idea.
