Allocating RAM to Minecraft

Sorry if this is the wrong board can't figure out where else to post it.  

I have 6 GB of memory, and my Technic launcher is only letting me cap it at 1 GB. Anybody know how to fix this (most modpacks crash from lack of memory)?

Make sure you have 64 bit java installed.

if you have 64-bit installed, then it's not being used by the launcher.  try reinstalling it.  the 1GB limit only shows up when 32-bit java is being used to run the launcher because that's basically the limit for 32-bit apps.
