Lack of natural spawns

Has anyone else been able to find a volcano biome containing basalt, which are present in previous modpacks? I love the material for building, but haven't been able to find any in my exploration. I figure that the Biomes a Plenty mod is dictating the spawn of it's own "volcano" biome containing ash, and despite basalt being listed in the items list I will not be finding any. Can anyone provide some input on this?

there is always basalt down near level 9 and below, interspersed with bedrock.

except thats the wrong basalt at level 9 that artifice basalt not project red basalt

On the other hand, Artifice Basalt is more useful than Project Red Basalt. You can make so many more decorative blocks out of it. Like those pavers and antipavers. Simply beautiful. Not to mention the fact that since it forms a large chunk of (if not all of) the lower levels near bedrock, you have a much greater and more consistent supply of it.
