Zervanic Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Oh right, I forgot you had to manually make the Shaderpacks folder. But if you have the server pack, don't you need like some sort of executable to make it run? Or do you just use the normal MC server executable in the same folder as the mods and config? Have you found any problems at this point, or have you not looked into it (and are you going to?) If not, please tell me how I should look for problems myself Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 4, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 4, 2014 I would recommend using MCPC+ ( http://ci.md-5.net/job/MCPC-Plus-164/ ) as your server binary. This provides both Forge and Bukkit features so you can use plugins. Â The last time I looked at the pack there wasn't anthing that would really conflict (I think). You still probably have some balance work to do with oregen, power, fluids/etc. but you can do that as you go. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/beyond-infinity.343981 How do I add a tab that shows which mods and their version are in the modpack (like you did?) Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 5, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 5, 2014 That requires the use of the Solder API which is a PHP web application sitting on top of a SQL database. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) No idea what you're talking about Anyway, tried to download my own mod again, works just fine. I've noticed that for some reason MC is pretty dark though and I can't find a way to make it brighter (brightness is on bright and barely changed the brightness to be honest) Also installing/using the Shaderpack resulted into nothing. I've played "ShadersModCore-v2.2.2-mc1.6.4-f965.jar" into the 1.6.4 folder, located in the mod folder (a video walkthrough on youtube said so) and I also placed it into a newly created 'Shaderpacks' folder in the modpack folder itself. When I go to shaderpacks in MC itself, there's (none) and (internal) and selecting either results in no change. EDIT: I've just copied the "seus-v10.1-Preview2.zip" from my normal MC, in which it does work. It loads now and appears in the list whilst also solving the brightness problem. Zervanic Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 I tried to create a server (config folder, mod folder, mcpc+ and damageindicators, waila, zan'sminimap have been removed). Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 7, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) Leave NEI itself but remove all of the NEI Plugins/Addons/etc. and try again. If that doesn't work I'll redownload your pack and figure out which client only mod is in there. Edited May 7, 2014 by plowmanplow Quote
Zervanic Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 I've removed those 2 and tried to run again, but still crash report. I also noticed that I don't see a console or something in which you can type commands for the server and such... is that normal? + To run the server, you have to execute that jar file everytime, but it keeps creating a few files over and over, resulting in a sort of flooded server folder with a lot of 'ForgeModLoader...' and 'DenPipes...' etc files. Is that normal too? Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 7, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) This is the launcher script for one of my servers. Keep in mind that some of these parameters may be out of date or mis-tuned as I haven't gone back over them in a long time: @echo off java -Xmx1536M -Xms1536M -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseNUMA -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -XX:+UseBiasedLocking -XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -XX:UseSSE=3 -XX:+UseLargePages -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:+UseStringCache -XX:+UseCompressedOops -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+AggressiveOpts -jar mcpc-plus-1.6.4-R2.1-forge965-B254.jar nogui I wouldn't say there is a "flood" of files in the server folder, but somewhere in the 25-30 files/folders range is reasonable. Â Post a link to your Technic pack page and I'll see what needs to be pulled out for the server. (although that error does happen if you have Optifine in the mods folder so make sure you don't) Edited May 7, 2014 by plowmanplow Quote
Zervanic Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Oh, I didn't know Optifine was a client only mod too. Removed and trying to launch now. As I was testing a world, there were of course tons of different copper ores and stuff. I was wondering if it were possible to increase the spawnrate of 1 type of copper, and make sure the others don't spawn. As I have IC too, it's possible to get the copper dust and stuff and the ingots are supposed to be interchangable anyway. (Removing Optifine did the trick it looks like) Thanks! Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 7, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 Yes, Thermal Expansion can manage ore generation for most types of ore. You can adjust that in the CoFH/TE configs. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) not really useful to not have a console though any way to get one for the server? EDIT: I can only find the config for the Vanilla ores/the TE ores. Do I have to manually go to the other mods' configs to say they can't spawn? Edited May 7, 2014 by Zervanic Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 7, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 Assuming you are running the server on a Windows machine, if you use a batch file with a command line similar to the one I posted you will have your console. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) I made a batch file using this post: https://github.com/MinecraftPortCentral/MCPC-Plus-Legacy/wiki/How-to-install,-launch-and-use. I now have a cmd-like console! I also edited my previous post, take a look please A little something else I've realised, I can't force-show which chunks are loaded. Normally it's F6, but I noticed in my controls F6 is nowhere to be foudn and I can't find the 'force chunkload showing' thing anywhere either. Is that another part of voxel or something that I have to install? It's quite useful so see the chunks/which one are loaded EDIT: I was mixing up F6 with the F9 button, which shows a grid of the chunks. It doesn't show which ones are loaded though. I remember when I pressed F6 in yogcraft extreme, it showed which chunks were loaded, outlining the loaded chunks with a bold, darkblue square and a smaller bold red square in the middle of the loaded chunk. Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 8, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) Hard to know without more details. I assume the only type of ore you are seeing is Thermal Expansion copper? Â Edit: Also, I assume you are making a new world when you are testing the changes? Edited May 8, 2014 by plowmanplow Quote
Zervanic Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) Yes, I've made a new world, changed some values and apparently they work now. Only TE copper/tin, which is good. I'm running a 64x64 quarry to see what kind of numbers I end up with and see if it needs further balancing. So the ores should be fine, I'll have to look at the old yogcraft extreme to try and find which allows me to see which chunks are loaded. Â Â This is what I'm looking for: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2ih1102&s=8#.U2wHMFf8RHY Â I noticed how in the old yogcraft extreme there's a mod called 'appeng-rv9-f', and a quick search on google showed (though not a lot was shown in the right direction of what I'm looking for) some things pointing towards an 'AP' mod or something... Apparently it's added by 'APUnofficial, or Additional Pipes. The config is online: http://code.google.com/p/fdt/source/browse/trunk/.minecraft/config/APUnofficial.cfg?r=37Â But I don't think the mod is still alive/updated to 1.6.4, because when I try to google it, I find 'Additional Buildcraft Objects', which does not add this... Ingame it looks like this, should it help : http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=25asr9e&s=8#.U2wIU1f8RHY Â EDIT: Good lord, heavy digging made me find the APUnofficial update for 1.6.4, so I got the loaded chunk boundary stuff! Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 8, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 8, 2014 appeng-rv9-f is Applied Energistics. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Running a quarry in both yogcraft extreme and my own modpack to compare the 'loot'. Now I've noticed there's a shitload of oil spawning. I decreased two values of oil. The first from BC, 1.0 to 0.7 (# Probability of oil well generation    D:oilWellGenerationRate=0.7)  and the other from 1.8 to 1. (Galacticraft)  (# Increasing this will increase amount of oil that will generate in each chunk.    D:"Oil Generation Factor"=1.0)  Is this the same kind of oil by the way? Maybe I should just turn one of those to 0 then? Now, I've already created a spawn in the serverworld, so I think like 20-30 chunks are loaded (haven't moved around much). If I change the worldgen settings after a world is created, will the newly loaded chunks obey the new rules? Or do I have to create a new world altogether once I got my final settings? Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 9, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 9, 2014 Any changes you make to world generation settings will (usually) only affect new chunks. It is possible to turn on retroactive ore generation but it's probably best to leave that alone. And yes, I would turn off GC oil in DIM0 (overworld) if you have BC oil enabled. The small number of chunks that have generated (and it's a lot more than 20 if you have logged in) are not a huge issue in my opinion. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Yes, that was my reasoning as well (about the chunks). I've changed the GC values to 0 and reset the BC oil to the default 1.0. This should balance the oil generation. Â The result of my modpack, running a quarry on 64 x 64: 57 diamond, 65 draconic ingots, 53 ferrous ore, 15 stacks iron and 5 ores, 2 stacks gold and 13 ores 22 stacks coal and 31 25 stacks redstone and 13 6 stacks of copper and 13 8 stacks of tin and 29 3 stacks of uranium and 25 3 stacks of lead and 44 IMO, the spawnrate of copper is WAY too long. It doesn't make sense, because I got more tin. Configs are supposed to spawn copper more. (Only reason I can think of is because I've mined in an ocean biome and copper spawns up until y: 96 or something) Compared to what I gained from a 64 x 64 quarry in yogcraft extreme, the tin and copper is pathetic. In yogcraft it's especially the copper/tin from UE that spawns very often. What's your thought on this? EDIT: I'm running a 64 x 64 quarry now. I turned the spawnrate of the TE tin/copper off and enabled the spawn of tin/copper of IC. Going to check the results and see if that's better balanced. Might fix it that way. If it doesn't fix the issue of way too low income, I guess I'll have to increase the numChunks and such drastically in the worldgen config Edited May 9, 2014 by Zervanic Quote
Zervanic Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Something I've noticed while setting up some basic try-outs: the macerator doesn't explode when they receive an input higher than 32 EU/t (Low Voltage). Normally they're supposed to do this... Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 14, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 14, 2014 Correct, the "basic" IC2 machines (the ones from IC2, not the addons) do not explode with over-UE. Neither do the cables melt. Quote
Zervanic Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 They also continue to operate as if they receive a normal kind of input. Well, you won't hear me complain, it was just new to me anyway Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 15, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 15, 2014 IC2 Experimental is kind of a "moving target" as far as development is concerned. They kind of work on what they want with (what most would consider to be) more attention to adding features than making things robust and consistent. Such is life. It's quite fun to play (in my opinion). Quote
