Server Help

Hey guys, So i just made a tekkit classic server using hamachi for my friends.  It works really well except despite the fact I have no clue why it is even running.  when i would click on the launch batch file in the server folder i downloaded from the tekkit site, it had some error.  Later I clicked some other file which gave me files i needed server something... Well sure enough now my server was working.  I also can't seem to give myself permissions to use commands ( I am host) So I need help with that.  #2, I can't seem to shut my server down, I am not running any command module or anything in the server files which is weird, and also even when I disconnect the hamachi group we are using and power off and exit my hamachi, the server still appears to be up for me?!?
