knowlerohrer Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hello people. hoping someone can help me out. Im planning on building a little server that will host all my videos and run a local minecraft server of some form for me and my family. At the moment im running a tekkit classic server on my gaming PC but i want it to be on a linux box so that my partner can boot it up while im not there and not have to even log in (also so it dosent sound like a plane taking off which my gaming pc does :-) ). That part i know how to do mostly but my question is, will this processor be enough to handle any/all/some of the variations of minecraft servers for up to 8 players, if it can is it overkill?: Intel G1830 Celeron Dual Core 2.8GHz S1150 it will be with 8gb of ram an SSD and gigabit LAN so the other aspects should be covered. Thanks Quote
Kalbintion Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 There's a lot more factors than just the processor when it comes to running a server, anyone with a gaming PC should know this. That processor isnt the best though, but it isnt the worst. As long as things are not getting stupidly out of hand (1,000s of entities, 1000s of chunks loaded, etc) it should be able to handle 8 ppl just fine. Quote
