Dogs of the State is running a custom modpack available on the Technic Platform which can be found here.

We are a greylist server.  Once you have fully read and understand this post (including spoilers) you may join us on the server at minecraft.dogsofthestate.com.  

DO NOT LOG INTO THE SERVER UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THIS POST ENTIRELY.  We will know and you will be banned.

We have an external hosting service so the server should be up 24x7 with few exceptions.

Our players join us from around the world so at any given time there will be a friendly face to greet you when you log in.

 

 

Who are we?

Dogs of the State is a gaming community that has been playing games together for over 5 years now. We've also been running a Minecraft server since Multiplayer went live, and have gone through several different town/server configurations. If you are mature, seeking a tight-knit community, and wanting to be part of fun and massive builds while helping each-other survive, "Dogs of the State" is the place for you. We have instituted an age restriction of 18+. We are only looking for the best and most friendly players, who can also communicate well and are looking for a constant community to spread their wings in.

 

 

 

What sort of server is DotS Escape

Most recently our server was running the 1.6.4 Direwolf20 pack on the FTB launcher.  Our community really enjoyed having a large subset of mods available.  As interest dwindled in that pack we looked for a change of pace and decided to either start a tech only or magic only pack.  After, some debate we settled on a tech only pack.  Not being satisfied with any of the out of the box packs available to us, we used SolitaryCraft to customize a tech only pack for our purposes.  We purposefully omitted some of the usual tech mods one would find in the most popular FTB packs in favor of some of the neglected and lesser known mods.  Since SolitaryCraft put a freeze on their 1.6.4 modpack development we took our existing pack updated it and made it our own.  

 

                                                                                                                             

 

 

Military Minded

Several iterations of the server have existed prior to this one, as a fluke, a number of active duty military and veterans chose to make Dogs of the State their home.  Having intimate knowledge of this life and embracing that connection and seeing value of these members in the community, Incomitatum, the DotS owner, decided to make it a selling point.  To this day that tradition continues.  We are proud to have a significant number of military individuals (both American and foreign) as members of our community.

General Server Rules

Our rules are simple and rely on mutual respect for each other.  Here are some the nitpicking rules we expect players to abide by.

• Be Sure you Can Read and Write

  • Can’t be stressed enough we have to be able to communicate with you and be sure you can and will read and follow periodic communications.

• Be, Mature

  • We are an 18+ server because a good number of us have jobs, spouses, kids and need a place to enjoy playing the game with other ADULTS.  We expect our players to act like adults at all times.

• QUALITY OF CHARACTER

• We do not tolerate lying, cheating, stealing or generally annoying immaturity.  You will be banned for these offenses.

• Only apply if you fulfill our age requirement.  We will find out.

• If you cannot speak eloquently, refuse to type full words or you only speak in L337, we DO NOT want you.  

  • Some shorthand is okay such as AFK or BRB just please try to type for real.

  • If you can’t be bothered to type “okay” or even “ok” instead of “kk” you are pushing it and maybe you should find a different server.

• Any resources in your house or pockets are yours, otherwise we are a commune and share our goods.  

  • Public chests are public, take what you need and give back to the community when you can.  

  • Thieves and leeches will be banned.  

  • If you’re not sure if it’s public property leave it alone until you can ask someone who knows.

• You may only have one home base (plot).  You will be told the acceptable parameters  later in this thread.  Mining/building outside your plot and other designated areas is not allowed.

• If you have a problem on the server, talk to someone.  

  • We are adults and can work our problems out at the lowest levels.

  • If that is impossible refer to the conflict resolution section.

  • You can always come to me.

Application Process

Once you have read this entire post join the server (DO NOT APPLY YET)

If you have read this post, you should get through the Noob Challenge easily.

Once you are through the challenge. Look around, ask questions, be polite, and get to know us. A mod should be with you shortly to give you the tour.

After your tour you will be given time to apply on this forum thread.

Once your application has been reviewed and accepted a moderator will work out a time to conduct a little getting to know you interview.

Your maturity is the biggest factor in your acceptance into our community

Those who do not log on for more than a week, without prior notice, may find their houses demolished to make room for regular players.

...in retrospective, it all began with Asmodeus, or as he is better known to most, the Count.

The first years of the war went well, we defended against his brutal attacks in the beginning and killed his General. Unfortunately, it was far too late for us to notice, that all was but a ruse when we attempted and succeeded in destroying the heart of an arch-devil what we thought was Asmodeus own one. Too late we recognized it for being it the heart of his arch-enemy and therefore we allowed Asmodeus to increase his power.

 

After that, the war went bad for us. Asmodeus returned to his usual tactics: deception, lies, corruption.

He let the 9th Hells Corruption on our dimension and with no hero there to step against it and only the Necrotect and the Master Warlock fighting it, the war was a lost cause.

I have no idea where it started, but it seemed that one of us got corrupted by the Necronomicon Ex Mortis and soon after that, more and more people got corrupted or distracted from the actual problem.

 

After the fall of so many brave souls, the war was easy for Asmodeus. With the spread of the corruption, the magic in our dimension slowly faded. First we could not cast our highest spells, then nodes disappeared and after a while, we could not even open doors to another dimensions.

 

Unfortunately for us, Asmodeus grew in power the more corruption spread and when nearly all magic had faded, he started his attack.

We weren't prepared for this onslaught. Without the magic to block the entrance to our dimension and the power to weave warding spells, plot after plot got overrun by dozens and dozens of Pit Fiends, Barbed Devils, Assassin Devils and the Counts countless minions.

 

We retreated to bastion, with just a handful of survivors left alive. With no other way to defend and the mighty walls of bastion starting to crumble, we decided our last step: We build a Sailing Ship to the stars to flee the extinction. We had to leave this earth, this planet, searching for a new home, where Asmodeus would not find us. Our Engineers and Technomages built a crude yet functional design, we made sure to bring seeds, saplings, food and other goods with us and prepared the cryo chambers for our long journey through the stars..

 

And when the last barriers of Bastion broke, we started the engines and fled this planet…

 

For what happened then, I also have no idea. Most of the crew was in hibernation when the sound of alarming sirens waked was heard and the computers started the waking programs to unfreeze us from our eternal slumber. Something had hit us. The logs do not show any sign of what actually damaged the ship, but as sudden as it appeared, it went away. With at least one, contained, hull breach, we prepared for a crash landing on a nearby planet.

 

We have no idea what awaits us there, as the computers only told us that it is a planet with a air to breath and land to live. First scans showed no magic activity and we braced ourselves for the impact...
