optikz Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I purchased a server and have tried sending a support ticket for help on installing tekkit to my server. But they keep telling me they don't have support for tekkit right now and to come here and ask for it. I've done what I could think of, putting the files in my FTP where I think they should go but nothing works. Can someone help me out please? I'm using WinSCP to upload the files.
optikz Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 can anyone please help me. I've been trying to get this to work for 3 hours.
Yuriy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 If they run bukkit, install bukkit. Delete it in your FTP client. Install Tekkit. Rename tekkit.jar to whatever your bukkit.jar's name was. Try launching. Report back. You could also tell them to get off their asses and help you since you're paying them...just saying.

Yuriy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 At the moment, I don't know what to tell you except that the people you're paying for hosting should offer more support for installing a bukkit-based mod pack. Hopefully someone who can break down those logs can offer you more help.

Ragnar Homsar Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Alright thanks. Do you know any good hosters that do have tekkit support? and good servers? Beastnode is what I use for the server me and my friends play on; as long as you rename tekkit.jar to whatever their default Bukkit name is, it works perfectly. I suspect with your current host Multicraft might be the issue, but I can't be certain.
DantexPain Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I don't know if this helps, but I currently use Vortex Servers. They actually have Tekkit supported hosting believe it or not, you don't need to FTP to the server or anything, just a few button clicks and you are ready to play tekkit. I do have to warn you though, their servers haven't been completely reliable lately, something to do with transferring file data bases and what not. But their customer service is spot on, I normally get responses to my tickets almost within the hour I submit them and problems fixed in just under 3-4 hours.
Yuriy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Alright thanks. Do you know any good hosters that do have tekkit support? and good servers? I don't host dedicated through other people/companies so the users of the forum would be able to give you better feedback on their hosts and such; I run mine own and it's non-public. I recommend either experimenting back and forth with hosts or really reading around to find the one that provides the best service for a price you're willing to pay (it's what I had to do with web hosts for about 1-2 years for some of my sites).

Yuriy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 ok so quick question do I have to install modloadermp and delete the meta-inf inside tekkit and all that other stuff? No. ModloaderMP doesn't work well with the new Forge. Also, even when installing mods into the new Tekkit and Technic, you don't have to delete META-INF. What that poster meant was that some hosts who install bukkit launch from bukkit-xversion-ysomething.jar; you have to rename tekkit.jar to that file name in order to get it to work properly. This problem has been explained before and I helped someone through it within the last 2 weeks: http://forums.technicpack.net/index.php/topic,11335.msg78178.html#msg78178 Basically, the host has their server set up to launch a specific filename for bukkit installs. If you intall tekkit and rename tekkit.jar to that specific name, you should be ok (although you may run into trouble, many find it works just fine).

optikz Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 I've renamed my craftbukkit to Tekkit and blah blah I've done everything, but it's not working there's an error causing it to crash. I looked at the logs and it showed everything working fine but the errors above this post were errors that I saw.
johnny walker Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 There's gotta be some conflict with Tekkit and stuff that they are including in their hosting package; the log you posted shows mods that, in the Tekkit package, work fine together, so the conflict shown may be caused by a third mod that is loading first. RackVPS.net is the host I use, it's just a plain debian box that I put Tekkit on using the guides on this site and it was a breeze. 4 core/1 GB/20GB storage for $20/month.
Iscamania Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 @johnny walker: I've 2 suggestions here... 1. Your host probably doesn't have Java 7 but Java 6. 2. Move your config folder and mod_ee.props out of the jar folder into the main folder. At least that's how it works on my server. That's probably why you got a block ID error. If the server doesn't find your config files, so it creates new ones with the default (and for Tekkit wrong) block ids.
optikz Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 Well I couldn't get anything to work so I just cancelled my server, I don't play it as much anyway was just hoping to get tekkit on it. For yalls server do you just have it to play with friends? Would any of you be willing to let me join and play on it?
Zac Grierson Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 You can come play with us our teamspeak is 108.170.51.90. We are working on the server as we speak.
