Alright, that's probably enough wood jokes. Anyways, (Non-wooden) logs in spoiler below, although some of them seem a bit... irrational.

So I've been working on this retro custom modpack, but I've been getting all of these bizarre crash errors. Logs in spoiler:

​Uh, where on earth did you hear that? I don't think that will happen within two full years from now, if I had to guess. Even first-gen xbox emulation is still pre-alpha.

​Only old ones though. I want to try out splatoon and smash, but I really don't want to shell out the ~400$ it takes to get the console + games for it. At that price point I'd much rather just get a big 'ol monster graphics card and upgrade something with it.

Looking around, it sort of bounces back and forth depending on the game being played and who's reviewing it. Even when it does win though, the Fury never wins by all that much. I have to agree, it's a little underwhelming. I do have to wonder what a new set of drivers and DX12 will do for it, but it probably won't be enough to make a substantial difference. Regardless, I'm sincerely hoping that AMD can become the overall better option though, and quickly. (Relatively speaking.) If they end up exiting the GPU market, Nvidia will have no real competition unless Intel goes off the rails and decides to make discrete chips. I know I probably don't have to tell you this, but monopolies are really bad. ​*salutes*

​I once had a guy hack a hacking game so that we could discuss hacking a different hacking game without being listened in on by the admins. (Uplink has a working IRC client you can buy in-game. He hacked uplink to give himself enough credits to get it without having to play through the game.) MOD QUESTION: The creators of Uplink, (Introversion Studios), are giving away the soundtrack to the game, but it's in really old weird formats. I took the liberty of converting them to .mp3s, filling in most of the metadata, and making/embedding some album art. Would it be okay for me to link it here?

Alright, nerds. I have three copies of Uplink to give away to those who somehow don't have this glorious game already. (It's essentially Old Cheesy Hacking Movies: The Game. It allows you an impressive amount of freedom in the game though, I once had someone arrested for 3rd degree jaywalking.) Either post here, PM me, or message me on steam if you'd like one.

I think the shifter might actually be slightly broken, it really shouldn't have shifted even if something fell on it. I'll have to have that looked at. So far, I think I have spent approximately way too much money on steam, thank goodness it's almost over.

So, today my GPS decided to fall off of my windshield. And hit my shifter. And somehow shift my car into neutral. Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think that is supposed to be possible.

Ohhhh, I didn't notice you were looking at the 290X as opposed to just the standard 290. Now your idea makes a little more sense. It'll be interesting to see how the new cards shake out though, that's for sure. I'm not actually in the market for a card right now, and when I am, I'll have to get an Nvidia one for an egpu setup anyways, but it's still cool to watch.

I'd have to agree with Neowulf and say you should wait. ​AMD's new cards are coming out *really* quickly. EG: a lot of them, (the R9 and R7s, particularly), come out literally tomorrow. Apparently the R9 390 will be ~$329, and the R9 390X will be ~$429 If they don't fit, you could just go with the redonkulously tiny-looking R9 Nano, which is supposed to be better than the 290 anyways. Regardless, like Neowulf already mentioned, it'll push prices down for last-gen cards. Sooo... yeah. I'd wait. ​I've thought about what that would be like too. I have to wonder if it would make life easier or harder.

​Interesting. I find it easier to remember passwords, (well, numbers, at least), when I type them out on a ten-key pad or a phone dialer. Then I just remember the "shape" of the number. That, or I can do it audibly, remembering what each character sounds like when spelled out together. I wonder what other ways people remember their passwords. Pity we don't really have any good system to remember them by smell...

Whelp, I guess you win. I have no witty response to that other than to point out that... uh... I.... can't.. do that? So yeah, I'm stuck with lastpass then, I suppose. It's not like I'm jealous or anything, baka.

​That's a fair enough stance, I suppose. I can certainly see where you're coming from. (Gator is an abomination, that goes without saying.) For me personally, coupled with 2-factor auth on both my lastpass and main email accounts, the benefits, (convenience, along with enabling me to use 12-20 character passwords made of random garbage on every site), outweigh the risks. I was contemplating maybe even adding a yubikey into the mix. What do you use? Keypass?
