  1. Apparently I am not allowed to have any weapon who's AOE is larger than it's range.

But if everything in the general direction I pointed my weapon at is already dead, then why would it matter if I have a few points of damage?

You said AOE, not area + insane one-shotting damage.

Well, given that the AOE damage falls off over distance, and assuming that I have at least something resembling aim, I think everything downrange of me is pretty hosed. If a weapon's AOE is bigger than it's range and it's not some sort of meele weapon, then it's doing a lot of damage.

  4. See, what I think is funny is the fact that I just started using these forums a week or two ago, and then you guys went and switched to the exact same forum software/layout.
  5. Oh, I know, I was just being snarky or something. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a bigger necro somewhere.
  6. If you use chrome, you could try to use this to do it. Results may vary, but I'd give that the best chance of working on smilies since it actually tears into the HTML of the page.
  7. There's actually a setting to ignore all signatures... I'll enable that later if I start to get annoyed.
  8. So, my thoughts. (Not that they matter all that much); I like the new color scheme. I'm not sure about all of this newfangled complexity, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I really don't care one way or the other about signitures, but I am very thankful that they don't allow images. That was the one thing I really hated about signatures, giant sigs with flashing colors that appear 20 times per page. My only real gripes are these; 1) The new profile page system feels overly complex. If it's possible, I'd be in favor of reverting to the simpler system where what is put on your page shows up nowhere else, as opposed to the current system of both outgoing and incoming page posts showing up on my page. 2) The "like" button. I really can't help but feel like it's a gimmick that should be avoided for many reasons, not the least of which is the tendency for it to become a status symbol to have more likes than someone else. Are there already plans in favor of or against it?
  9. You seem to have somehow friended Mataroyale twice. Tell me your secrets.

  11. We here at Byteco take no responsibility for our CEO's utter lack of drawing skills, nor his lovecraftian perception of human anatomy.

  12. The other one I would recommend would be Ubuntu One. Not crazy fast or anything, but bandwidth is essentially unlimited, and it's pretty easy to use.
  13. Ah, I stand corrected. Good to know.
  14. If my noob-ese is correct, he either wants to know the maximum amount of packs his account is capable of creating for the platform, or the max amount of packs he can have in his personal launcher. IIRC, the answer to both is essentially infinite.
  15. These bits got BYTE.

  16. I think you misunderstood him. We need your OperatingSystem, (windows or mac), and exactly which version of java you're running. Also, you might want to try updating your graphics drivers, or seeing if you have a different dedicated graphics chip onboard instead of the integrated one.
  17. I would pay much moneys to see the Technic crew put on a puppet show and get a download of the resulting comedy gold. I don't think I'd even care what the money went to at that point. You could send all of the money to Obama's 3rd term campaigning fund and I'd still buy it.
  18. I could write a long and flowery story about smoke, electricity and souls, but instead I'll just let these 4 consecutive songs and your own imagination tell my story for me.
  19. Of course! Most every distro does. (except for the bare-bones ones, like ARCH which even works on super low-end machines. Minimum system requirement for that is 64 MB of RAM.) I'd give either mint or ubuntu a go. Flip a coin or something, their main difference for you would probably be the UI. Try out both and see which one you like/which one works better for minecraft. You might also want to try out a slightly lighter distro, like Xubuntu
  20. That's plenty for everything you could need. You could probably install java, the Technic launcher, have a handful of packs, (and a box full of worlds), in there, and still have ~2 gigs left. I'd recommend trying out some of the free Linux stuff you can get from whatever software store is bundled with your distro while you're at it. Heck, dump some tunes to listen to on there too. (Some tunes. You don't want to fill the thing up too full. As for the distribution to use, I'd recommend Mint.)
  21. Unless you have some kind of dedicated high-speed direct link, the latency from that would likely be horrible enough to make any games unplayable. In any case, IIRC most remote desktop schemes need admin to install. Like freakichu mentioned, if you're allowed to boot to portable media at your school, I'd go with some kind of live Linux setup. LiLi's nice for doing those on flash drives, (super user-friendly, it even auto-downloads your chosen distro for you), and it also has a way to setup Linux with persistent storage for your install, so you wouldn't have to re-install things like java on every reboot. You'd essentially have your own computer on a stick. This path becomes all the more plausible if the computer has USB 2.0 onboard. Either way, even if it's a bit laggy because of the I/0, it's miles ahead of trying to use a remote desktop for gaming, at least in my experience. (You could also use a portable hhd for this for more room, and if there is a SATA port on the computer, (often combined with a USB port), you could likely get near-full-speed I/0 to it.) Link to LiLi; http://www.linuxliveusb.com/ EDIT: I forgot, it even automatically does virtualbox setup on the stick too. That might be an option if you aren't allowed to boot to your own media, as long as the computer can handle the overhead, but it's also just plain cool. :iia:
  22. That's probably for the best. So here's basically what I was talking about earlier. http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/blog/2007/01/22/immortality-consciousness-interruption-problem/ Read and discuss.
  23. I think you're right, but part of me want's to think they're based on the robo-tanks from AKIRA.
  24. Also, I find teemo's skillset to be pretty easy to learn. Those mushrooms man, it's hysterical watching people run into 4 of them while they chase you all the way down the center lane and then get run over by a fresh ally from the side lane. That never gets old.
