  1. This thread is reserved for people looking for one or two other people to play privately with. It's strictly for small scale private games, so no more than 4 people, including the host. Anyone found using this thread to circumvent the posting guidelines for server posts will be humiliated and flamed, then banned. The order of those actions may change. Don't post here a dozen times telling different people you'll play with them. If you're looking for that kind of gameplay, go to the server section and find one. After you have secured your contingent of people to play with, at the mods' discretion your post(s) may be deleted. On that note, people caught bumping this thread because they're "still looking for other people" will be subjected to the same treatment as those attempting to use this for larger server posts. Feel free to edit your post, but don't keep adding more posts. Finally, we recommend stating your basic info in your recruitment thread. That includes especially the following: - Number of people desired - Active time zone and times - Activity level (hours/day or week usually active) - Any inactive mods/items you may have
  2. You need to update your thread title to reflect the requirements of a server post. I'll check back.
  3. Hey, I'm being creative here. Have you tried a Matter Cannon (Applied Energistics)?
  4. I wonder if you could catapult unstable ingots at something...
  5. He didn't, but I noticed it anyway.
  6. What's your video card and graphics settings looking like? Realistically, you shouldn't be giving that much memory to the launcher. Java will use it, and leave you nothing for garbage collection, running the OS, and other such little necessary things. Stick to 4GB at most; usually only 3GB is needed, even for large packs.
  7. This has to do with an official mod pack. Please put future problems with those or having to do with the Launcher itself on the Tracker.
  8. This is a "discussion" pulled out of someone's modpack thread, for reasons which probably became obvious upon reading it. I would like to note that the person asked to move their server post did, and the two (more one than the other) people that insisted on continuing the argument weren't even affected by the post change. madogdan, you have completely ignored several posts I have made pointing out the differences between the topic types, so I'll say it again. A server post is not within the bounds of the discussion at hand regarding a modpack. There's a thin line between the two, yes, but the line is there. If you were really concerned about defending bizz instead of stroking your own ego, you would have taken the discussion elsewhere instead of continuing to reply. So 10/10 forum trolling BS, would rate again.
  9. You're exaggerating the subject matter of his response so that you have more perceived justification in bringing up your mental state - it was never part of his original argument in the first place. Stop using it as an excuse - it isn't one. Notice that little word "entirely" in the "dictionary definition" example? There are degrees of off-topic and on-topic posting. This thread is about a mod pack. The post in question was about a server that uses the mod pack. See the difference? One more definition you might want to look up: the pejorative use of "semantics". It's what you're engaged in arguing right now, and it won't end well for you.
  10. Anyone an OP? That can happen close to spawn. Otherwise, stick the issue on the Tracker and provide more info.
  11. Ars is 1.7.10 - but I'm guessing Iskandar doesn't want to make it an integral (and well-known) part of Hexxit unless it's going to carry into 1.8. I personally wouldn't mind even slightly if it was included, as long as it was balanced, but the odds of someone asking for and being granted the source code to continue it, and then doing so, are not high.
  12. Config files are very small and extremely useful to synchronize clients with the server. Always include the entire set of config files in the pack, with the exception of client-side-only mods configs such as maps, graphical mods, etc.
  13. Use the Tracker, please. Needed info includes actual computer specs, any active security software, not just firewalls, networking settings, anything else you have tried, etc.
  14. They are indeed.
  15. Quoted Timmae so he would notice this post. HoloInventory actually doesn't work on the server unless it's also in the server mods folder. For the rest, yes, they're client-side only.
  16. New information, approval posts, or any other posts with content are fine, but content-free bumps aren't.
  17. Case-by-case. Server owners can change player file names, in a pinch, but there are some things that won't carry over, and those that choose to change their MC names will probably just have to work with server owners on that, as needed.
  18. Get rid of CustomMainMenu from your server files. If it keeps crashing, get rid of ThaumcraftNEIPlugin as well.
  19. Attack you mentally? Is that something you can do, Neo? I'm impressed. They were server posts in a section that isn't for servers. If, hypothetically, someone were to post a request for help getting his server working (this happens all the time) in the section for server ads, despite being related, it's off topic. I don't care how much you want to be right; you aren't. Also, no one asked other moderators to jump in; they did that of their own free will. As far as I'm concerned, it was "resolved" long before any of the other mods said anything. It has simply been dragged out since then by people unwilling to admit that they're out of line. Nefzen, to whom I was speaking originally, chose the polite response immediately. You and bizz didn't. You're arguing with the cops over whether they're going to give you (or somebody else) a ticket after you've been caught speeding. It's their choice, not yours. There's a court you're more than welcome to go to if you have an issue with a moderator. They have red names, and they hang out on the Technic IRC fairly regularly. I'm going to guess, though, and this is pure speculation, mind you, that they will respond poorly to people that started an argument with a mod over something stupid like this.
  20. I'm going to ignore the rest of your post and focus on this, simply because it's all you would have had to say to make your point(s) perfectly well. The rest of your post is drivel of the kind that people with superiority complexes use, with one exception (on autism), which I will get to in a minute. 1) If bizz had the intention of following the rules, he wouldn't have responded the way he did to my request that a server post be moved. I never asked him to remove server addresses from his OP, nor did I state that he was breaking any rules, in my first post. 2) He wasn't banned. He was kept from posting for a single day. There is a great deal of difference between the two. 3) There's a rule about off-topic posts. That's not "claiming false rules," nor did I "buckle when asked..." That's applying one of the rules to a post, which is well within my purview. 4) I, and all of the other moderators, have had plenty of opportunity to be abusive and have refrained to date. Perhaps some people are simply more sensitive than others when it comes to perceived insults or special attention, and a thicker skin is required. 5) It is impossible for me to be power hungry unless I wish to be involved with the development of the site and/or official packs. I have a certain level of authority here, and I will never get more without additional effort, which I do not have time to put forth. The same is true of the rest of the moderators, as far as I know. Now back to your last paragraph. I know enough people with autism to know when it's being used as an excuse to be belligerent or combative. Your case clearly leaves you able to understand that the way you chose to begin posting would not grant you a warm reception. That said, next time one of the moderators asks you why you are here, perhaps you should answer in a more rational way.
  21. Wow, you waited a whole day before uselessly bumping your support request, after putting it in the wrong place! Try the Tracker for the official modpacks. That's what it's for.
  22. And watch as your world explodes due to a massive number of ID conflicts (if you're in 1.6.4) or chunk regen. It's not as simple as plugging in a save file.
  23. Stick up a server post in the right section.
  24. http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/tekkitmain.552547 - Server Download on the right.
  25. Yeah, even attempting something like that, while possible, would need a lot more information (MC version number), and probably some heavy-duty MIDAS, MCEdit, or other utility use, if nothing else.
