[MAJOR PROBLEM] Automatic "Saving Chunks" on world loading?
Torezu replied to DigiDuncan's question in Technic Launcher
tazmenian and Alex_N: Please post logs (for Alex_N, a complete log - yours is cut off) so the error is easier to see. -
If the mod is run by ModLoader and can be disabled, it'll be in the config file, which is what the Mod Select button opens anyway. That'd be the ModLoader.cfg file in your C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher\[modpack]\config folder. If it's integrated into the .jar like, say, OptiFine, it's much harder to get rid of.

We're shooting for a record! So far we have 4 people in one thread without a single bug report or log file. This is even after someone was nice enough to mention that log files are a good idea, and give a link on instructions for posting them!

YogBox is also SSP only. There are rumors about it becoming SMP as well in the future, but that would require removing ThaumCraft 2 and BetterDungeons, which would pretty much kill a lot of its content. It would be kind of nice if the two would just get combined. I guess that's what Technic+ is kind of supposed to be, so I may have to try it.

Tekkit Server Help. Launch.bat isnt working.
Torezu replied to lenzon101's question in Tekkit Classic
Put the .bat file in the same directory as your tekkit.jar file and make a shortcut to it if you want. It's not finding the .jar file because it doesn't know where to look. -
The OptiFine creator says in the MCForums thread that the AA and MT versions are in development and can't be expected to always do what you want them to. Try some of the stuff he recommends, or get the Standard version.
-
SSP/MP = Survival Single/Multi Player (carryover from the days before the ability to switch back and forth became common) Vanilla = Regular Minecraft, no mods YogBox = A different mod pack, primarily defined by adventure and exploration rather than machines, construction, etc. Notable differences are the addition of Battle Towers and the RPG Health Mod (20-heart max is nice for adventuring), ThaumCraft 2 in the Rec. version, and no Equivalent Exchange, IndustrialCraft, or BuildCraft. It may have RedPower - I don't remember. Otherwise, they're similar.

Keep getting End of stream errors when trying to connect
Torezu replied to melle345's question in Tekkit Classic
Tekkit 2.1.1 isn't for MC 1.2.5. You're trying to use the wrong client version for the current server version. A Tekkit 3.0.0 server version doesn't exist yet - that's the dev build for single-player bug-testing only. I suggest trying to downgrade your Tekkit client version with the launcher and, failing that, wipe just your Tekkit directory and let the launcher re-download the version for MC 1.1 -
Tekkit Server Help. Launch.bat isnt working.
Torezu replied to lenzon101's question in Tekkit Classic
OP: Edit the .bat file to include quotes around the java directory structure and executable, leaving the command line additions outside. If you want to try melle's solution, add java to your system path. There are directions for doing so on the Java site, and Google should be able to find them for you easily. Side note: Make sure you're using the correct bit version of Java (32 or 64) for your version of Win7 (you don't say which you have). -
*Twitch* Why? - It's not a board rule, but correcting your grammar and spelling will increase the likelihood of an answer. - You posted this in the wrong section. It should be either in General Tekkit SMP or the Tekkit Bug Board, depending on the problem. - We have no clue what's wrong because you didn't even post your OS, Java/Launcher/Modpack version, any error message or error log, or any other useful information. - Don't bother saying "Hello" or "thanks in advance." It's redundant, makes your post longer for no reason, and makes you look like the noob you claim to be. You say you made your own server, but your post doesn't demonstrate the technical ability to keep it running very long. - Please, please read the stickies before asking questions like this. It'll save you time waiting for an answer and it'll save us time reading and answering what appears to be a dumb question. Pre-post edit: I need to learn to type faster or something. I keep getting ninja-posted by people. So, what he said. ^

Preserving inventories when porting to a new map
Torezu replied to dracosilv's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
I believe this will work, though I'd back up the world before doing anything permanent, of course. The Trans Tablet data and Mercurial Eye stuff is also in the dat folder. -
This. (Warning: Amazon link) That is all. I own one, though I haven't used it in a while.

So, this was just announced: Mojang "has begun the long process of separating the server logic from the client." Essentially, this means SSP and SMP will hopefully be integrated in the future, at least that's my understanding. Anyone with more experience in Java workings want to comment on how that will affect mods, or will it just make Technic and Tekkit the same thing after it's fully completed? I may just be naive in hoping that some of my favorite SSP mods will make it to SMP...

That's almost guaranteed to be an OptiFine issue, as TheGuy said. Try grabbing the Standard or maybe Smooth version for 1.2.5, and see what it does.

*Twitch* Were there at least holes in the plate?

First off, I'd read the Common Problems and Solutions thread. Then, I'd read the Before you Post a Problem and the Mandatory Report Format thread to follow the bug report format. You fixed that, thankfully. Also, it would be a good idea to read the Global Rules before posting. For example, stop signing your threads. It's redundant. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's amazing how a little reading could save you (and everyone else here) a lot of time and frustration. Other people (who have more mod power than I do, which is to say any at all) on this board will be mean. It's a product of the aforementioned frustration. To help with your problem(s): I suspect McAfee is killing the process because it thinks it's a virus, as it's doing folder overwrites and backups to get the mod pack to work. The only ways around that are disabling McAfee or adding an exception, something I don't know how to do as I don't run McAfee. Other solutions may present themselves in the Common Problems thread mentioned above, after you find the error log.

The Tekkit 1.1 server was, I believe, pre-launcher. You will not find, on this site, a copy of that server, since the Technic crew doesn't want to support something that could be used to play a pirated copy of MC. Why would you want an older version anyway? If you're talking about a Tekkit server for Minecraft 1.1, that is the current version.
-
I recommend: - Posting an error log, per the required bug report format. - Making sure you're using the 32-bit version of Java 7. - Switching away from McAfee.
-
Evidence/quotes from most modders? I'm of the opinion that this is a BS line here. If I were to have the skill to make a mod, I would take no issue whatsoever with the Technic Pack crew adding it. I don't think most modders hate the pack, and I'm fairly sure some even like it and enjoy whatever donations they may get as a result of it existing.
-
Yes. Maybe. Maybe not? A bug report would be nice...
-
Post a log. We can't help you if you don't do that.
-
If you want your server files to be somewhere besides your .techniclauncher\tekkit folder (handy if you're running more than one server or just want to keep them separate), add Java to the system path. It's not an extremely complicated process.
-
Amazingly, this error has been fixed by reducing the amount of RAM being reserved by Java, at least iirc from another thread. If you're trying to dedicate more RAM than you have, I think Java craps out. Check that first (Launcher window > Options > reduce RAM to 512MB, for example).
-
Wow. The Read is not strong here. This is certainly a sticky situation.
-
Just make sure you don't try to do it while the server's running. That gets really ugly really fast.
