I can't wait until the Mod API is finally ready and modpacks transition from custom platforms to merely convenient combinations of mods. Then we can all play whatever we want no matter what the creators think. If I went up to Covert Jaguar right now and said "May I please play with RailCraft?" I'll bet I know what he'd say. "Yes, of course." When I say "Great! Thank you! I'll tell CanVox you want your mod in Tekkit again!" of course he'd say "NO! Play FTB! It's better!" and I'd have to get into performance issues and stuff like that. I really can't play FTB, and I don't really want to (which is why I'm here) but I want cool steam power and I want better minecarts! (I like trains ) The fact is, some people play modded Minecraft through the technic launcher. CJ's mod alone isn't going to change that. So, if we like the content Railcraft provides and he wants us to play with his mod, he has no good reason at least at this basic level of reasoning to demand his mod out. /rant

I believe offline mode is handled entirely by the launcher. Minecraft version doesn't make a difference.

And I think teleporting to coordinates would be much better than IC2's way. There could be a tracker item that could have a frequency assigned to it, and it could be charged in an energetic infuser and would run out of power. (after a long time) It would also be possible to give your coordinates manually, but you would have to give the exact decimals which the tracker would automatically provide. Somewhat, but the rifts and giant red-eyed floating monoliths kind of ruin it.

Yes. Look on the Tekkit webpage to see the list of mods, follow the links to the mods' website, and download the right version, download them, and install the correct version of Forge.

It will be quite convenient when we get a RedPower Logic replacement. The RedNet controller is really cool, but a lot of trouble sometimes. A good old timer is all ya need for simpler stuff. I'd probably go with a planter, harvester, bioreactor, biofuel generators, (For loads of practically free power) a few stacks of conduits, a few energy cells, a quarry, a mining turtle, TE machines, and the rest blocks of super rare stuff like Shiny and Diamonds.
