  1. I understand the crowded server, but unfortunately this is not a pack that lends itself well to overcrowded servers I started a plot, got a nice base going, but you are welcome to recycle it, since it's a bit too... busy, for me. username Brian_Barnson
  2. Hey, I don't blame you in the slightest, I use it too for doing curves and stuff. of course, the funky diagonals and stuff in carpenter's blocks sort of complicates things... but the default blocks make things like glass arcs a thousand times easier.
  3. Sorry, stone-cold john smith remix fan. don't really have time to work with a new pack i don't really understand.
  4. seriously, power needs are limited to autofarms and genetics stuff. tree farms can suck up power pretty well, but MFR biofuel generators can handle the needs just fine
  5. ram 4g, java 7 update 25 64bit, fancy graphics, nvidia graphics card. works fine
  6. If you delete the weather mod, I am pretty sure you have to kill tropicraft also.
  7. I am figuring more and more minions and servers don't go together anyway (sigh)
  8. Guess I was thinking of 32 bit Operating systems. I know that Java 6 had problems with more than 2 gigs, but I wasn't sure if it was the OS problem or the bits problem.
  9. You cannot, there's no pump in the pack for sucking up lava. unless you feel like bailing with a bucket, there are a couple of tanks, open blocks tanks can be broken and retain their contents (useful for tinker smelter but for engines, not so much)
  10. actually the giveaway was the actual guide block itself in the picture, see it? very distinctive texture.
  11. arriej, you really should experiment a bit with carpenter's blocks and chisel...it could turn an already-good structure great. especially the windows
  12. nicely done.... is that an open blocks curve cheat sheet down in the lower right hand corner? hehehe.
  13. btw, I have sorta realized that the pack sorta sucks for servers... I went 15k away from start point and still couldn't find a single darwin, sugar cane, or anything. brutal. my best suggestion for a modpack would be to get rid of BoP... it makes it too hard to find anything.
  14. with 1.05 are you going to be re-enabling minions? I needs my evil landscapers
  15. Sorry, you got me there, I already gave the only suggestion I could think of
  16. I would agree that AE fits the pack thematically, but I think better storage would be a better fit... I add it into my sp games. AE would give you a nice power sink, though. I do agree another storage option would be nice, though. you kinda have 'vanilla chest' and then 'deep storage units' and nothing in between. Jabba or barrels+ would be nice too. heck, at this point I'd even be happy with ancient warfare's warehouse. I get tired of tropicraft chests flashing invisible constantly.
  17. That is not constructive criticism, that is an insult. the fly gene's difficulty is 100x harder than killing a bat, because killing a bat (or other mob that flies) involves a completely different process and result than using genetics to achieve it. Yes, shapeshifting is a bit 'easy mode' (and not a mod I would personally have included in the pack) but, while detailing what YOU see to be an egregious flaw, and why, in hopes of improving things is NOT what you did... you just told the developers off, called them incompetent to design a pack, and implied that they never thought the pack through. There are ALWAYS unintended loopholes when you build a mod pack. that's why some of the most popular have gone through dozens of iterations, and in fact THIS particular pack is ALSO going through those same iterations as well. You are in essence, looking at a bolt on an assembly line, and saying "That's a sucky car, you guys build bad cars." I strongly support people providing constructive criticism, but you are not critiquing (which generally requires you to suggest a solution) you are simply bitching. about the comparison with Hexxit- Frankly, I despise the hexxit pack. I think it completely twists the whole concept of 'minecraft' into an unfamiliar hack and slash genre that I simply do. not. enjoy. However. I will not at any time claim that the guys that MADE the hexxit pack didn't know what they were doing, or didn't think things through. Obviously, they put out a pack that some (admittedly munchkin) players really enjoy. It was a professionally-done pack, and after a LOT of iterations it is in a really great balanced state... if you enjoy that sort of thing. Based on the traffic on THIS board, obviously some people consider THIS to be a great modpack as well. Do them the courtesy of assuming that they had something in mind... and while you may not be intellectually capable of 'getting' the pack, or of the difference between common English homophones such as 'peak', your unsubstantiated opining upon the personal abilities of the developers is, in fact, not, by definition, 'constructive criticism'. In short, trying to suggest that you are in some way contributing to a pack by pointlessly insulting it's creators is pretty darned shallow. redacted
  18. You know, in all my time being an MFR beta tester for PC I never once played with the automated animal/mob farms? I guess I am just old school. We really should have made a wiki. I am a bit surprised he put my name in the credits, though
  19. are you kidding? That's AWESOME! something like that happening is something you will REMEMBER for a long time. Which do you think you will remember longer; putting another wooden stair roof on another cobblestone hut? Or watching a tornado RIP THROUGH YOUR buildings, sending that same roof whirling like a demented snowstorm of destruction as a hugely towering miasma of whirling energy tears it's way through, barely escaping with your life as you sprint deep underground to escape the deathtrap? Man, I hope you got to see chickens and cows flying
  20. I disagree with both of those mods. The only part of IC2 that really fits thematically is probably the crop sticks, and sticking it in the pack would be like nailing a semitractor cab on a 2010 taurus frame. It's also highly buggy beta and in a brutal state of flux... difficulties surround it. Thaumcraft doesn't fit at all. it is VERY magical, and the pack is all about chemistry and genetics. Not to mention that someone stuffs TC3 into every damned mod pack coming out regardless of it's appropriateness or thematic fit. mad science. genetics. evil genius. Hordes of monsters and slaves. witchery fits the bill because it's all about chemistry and potions. Besides, you get to shapeshift into a flying, fireproof Blaze easily, can make superweapons and supertools (That dramatically outclass anything IC2 and thaumcraft together have to offer) with tinker's, quarry, landscape, and strip-log entire countrysides with minions, automate EVERYTHING with MFR and TE, and make awesomely amazing looking lairs with carpenter's and chisel. What on earth would TC3 or IC2 have to offer that isn't already there and already better? Except cropsticks. Us evil genius have more important work to be doing than sitting in front of a craft table making a component to make a component to make a component to make a component to make a small disposable part to make another machine work. Stuff like hatching dinosaurs, breeding monsters, making frankensteins and building our great and terrible lair. lit with redstone torches so it has the appropriate ambience.
  21. err...yeah... but, if you use blaze powder to run the engine that you are using to power the blaze farm, are you getting a net gain in energy? or a net loss? It's kinda like the MFR magma generator... technically, running it through a magmatic gives you a net loss in power (at least that's how PC designed it, not sure if Skyboy altered it or the config has changed) and I actually meant your first nether run... while you are still building the machines to power the machines to build up your resources to do stuff like autofarms. you know, diamond sword, diamond armor, bunch of apples, and an irritating spawner at the top of the stairs you are having trouble getting at through the hail of fireballs.
  22. umm...32 bit java can handle up to 2 gigs. 3+ requires Java 7. On one gig most packs will choke.
  23. I'm probably using an older, crappier, slower computer than yours
  24. I know that the dynamo can use MFR biofuel. do an nei search on 'bio'. throw in stuff like extra seeds and saplings you get from farming.
