My only concern is... don't the Tekkit and Technic installs have their own save folders? I don't think this would be a problem unless you're moving technic saves over to your tekkit folder/server...

Right, I think I had the same problem when I first used Tekkit. Try switching your game mode to creative and then back to survival. Should fix it.

I'd recommend trying to connect to Tekkit servers while playing the Tekkit pack, not the Technic pack.
