You need to be running Tekkit 1.1.4 Client in order to connect to a Tekkit 1.1.4 server.

You don't need the launcher to run Tekkit 1.1.4. After all, 1.1.4 came before the launcher.

You do realize those are the source code files for the launcher, not Tekkit 1.1.4, right?

If you have a legitimate minecraft account and minecraft.net is up, you shouldn't have to use offline mode.

Minecraft.net is probably down. If it is, then the launcher won't be able to run correctly. EDIT: Looks like Minecraft.net is back up. Try it again.

The launcher manipulates gravity? Wow, I wasn't aware they could code that well. Most people aren't having issues like this. And besides, on your laptop... the launcher shuts down after it opens Minecraft. The launcher isn't what's causing your lag. You are not a customer. You are not buying a product. They are providing this free of charge. That's like complaining that the free soup you got at the soup kitchen isn't good enough for you. Of course it isn't fully functional. Did you look at the version number? 0.5.3.6 It's a work in progress. And also, on your last part? Where you say you bet the average computer user can use it with no problems. Yes, it is a scam. You see, due to the way the launcher automates installation you have to enter your Minecraft account into it, so that it can check for updates and such. You see, this must mean that the Technic crew is secretly working with Mojang in an attempt to force people to buy accounts! It's the most devious scam I've ever seen!
