Sorry to revive an old thread, but I've decided on custom building a computer. So far I've bought the Gigabyte motherboard 990FXA-UD3, an AMD 6100, and a Corsair Carbide 300R case. I'm thinking about getting a GeForce GTX-550 Ti from Gigabyte. I know this isn't a complete list, but I don't want to overspend when I go buy the hardware at Microcenter and so I'm taking it in strides. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I prefer HP, yes their laptops aren't their main product, but for their prices, they make a decent computer. I've been wanting to upgrade my old, crappy, desktop for a while now. I have a question though, is this a good computer for the cost. I wanted to custom build a computer, but upon further research, the price is slightly problematic. Hardware alone adds up to $1000, without an OS, monitor, or any other necessary parts. And the chance I screw up the assembly just adds to the possible price of a few hundred dollars. The computer I currently have my eyes on looks good, and its cheap for what you get (I think, I'm not that tech savvy). I want to buy it before the dreaded Oct. 26th release of Windows 8 (or the end of the Windows OS for the pc). I plan on upgrading the graphics card to a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT630 for 50 dollars. I would use it for mild gaming and all purpose use. I will vouch for the statement about GMod and Elder Scrolls. The two games, both GMod and the Elder Scrolls, both use the steam workshop which creates a less competitive environment. Basically, the steam workshop is just an application to upload community saves/weapons/maps etc. In addition the Steam Workshop forces an up-loader to use the Workshop instead of a more ego producing source such as ad-fly. The authors are an afterthought, the content is what matters. For example, in TF2, there are community weapons (made by an individual coder/texture artist), whose authors receive practically no credit or monetary gains made by sales of the weapons. Do they care? No they don't. We should all learn from the TF2/Gmod/Skyrim community.

I personally think the government should get its act together, stop piling up so much debt, and get back to work on space. In theory, who ever "owns" Mars might as well rule the world. Mars is full of helium-3 which is extremely rare on Earth and is valuable. It's also a virgin planet, full of iron, and other untouched precious metals. For all we know, we might find quantities of elements unheard of on Earth. Colonizing Mars might take many generations, but right now, very few nations are in a position to start the race to Mars, we should take advantage of that and take the lead. In theory, a botanical spacecraft isn't exactly needed. You could set up a base colony by robotic drones. Then send a small spacecraft with the necessary supplies and several astronauts, and have everything waiting on mars. It would be expensive to send several spacecraft with the various parts, modules, and provisions, but the pros outweigh the cons. I don't see why you would need to start up an immediate colony. Ya, um it died out after a week or so. In my opinion, it was mostly a publicity stunt and a massive fraud. Now the guy who made the documentary is in the jail house now for public masturbation along with several counts of vandalism. Most of the donation money didn't even go towards Africa. And then almost every Facebooker wanted America to just jump into Africa to stop this horrible menace(end sarcasm). In the long run, it could have been disastrous. Little operations like this can escalate into wars. Good thing everyone recovered their senses eventually. You don't seem to grasp my point, he made that order without going thorugh congress, which no matter how constitutional the whole bill is, it still is unconstitutional because he didn't go through congress and have a vote on it. But a second reason to outsource businesses would be because the USA has some of the highest corperate tax rates in the world. Businesses don't like paying 10% of their profits to big brother. In addition, China has practically no labor laws (citation needed), and is sort of a grey country. They sometimes seem communist, but in actuality, they almost seem to be more laissez-faire then anything else. Again, they left because of heavy regulations, unions, and high tax rates. But that's a part of the American Dream, they became successful because they were hard working, ingenious, and innovative, traits lacking in today's youth. They invented something. That's not my point of the argument, America is beginning to crumble, and culture is one of the first things beginning to fall. The last 50 years has turned America on its head.

First off, my point is that Obama granted amnesty to those illegals without congressional consent, which i believe is against the tenth amendment. It is mostly a scheme that he believes will help get him votes in the election. Second off, it isn't music in the traditional sense, you need absolutely no talent in actual singing or the ability to create music. Third off, sex isn't a bad thing, but to have sex with two people in a short period of time is frankly bad, especially when it comes to the leader of a country (Clinton). Fourth off, when I say technology can be bad, technology is easily abused. The government loves to have prying eyes into people's lives, people are making the internet a third leg for knowledge, and it is used as a substitute for natural talent. Fifth off, communism is state control of businesses, which as I stated has not happened yet, but it is happening. It starts with high taxes, regulations, and socialism. Socialism is basically the idea of distributing the wealth. Now where does that come to mind cough*healthcare bill*cough. Sixth off, that is the great thing about laissez-faire. Those who fall are there because they put themselves there, but those who work are rewarded. Thats thing about the American Dream, a man can make it if he works hard enough. And if you mention the New Deal, the new Deal did not help America, it was the need for industry to fight in WWII that brought us out of the great depression. We survived for 150 years in a little regulated state of business. And the only reason the Great Depression started was because the government tinkered with the mint. And finally, your point on NCLB actually disproves your whole argument. It was started because of government REGULATION, this whole arguments links back to the government and how they should not get involved in American's every day life.

In my opinion, American doctrine and culture is starting to crumble due to many factors including immigration, technology, etc. In the past few years, America has been just collapsing at an alarming rate. American music and culture has been reduced to dub-step, hip-hop, and rap, genres of "music" hardly deserving such a title. Since the 1950's, the melting pot theory has been mostly detrimental to the American ideology. Before rock, America was actually a center of good music, unaltered music, pleasing music. People listened to Tin Pan Alley songs, jazz, and classic music, mostly music give a shrug. We are also losing our culture ideals of the family, freedom, and moral reasoning. Our political reasoning too is being torn to the ground. We are becoming a communist country, and a country ignoring our Founding Fathers and Constitution. We were a country built on free enterprise, aspiration, little government regulation. Now, we are a country built on high taxes, outsourced business, and an anti-small business government. Extremely frightening is the 600,000 illegal immigrants that Obama gave amnesty to last week, without congressional voting. We are piling up debt faster then you can imagine.Our education system is even more frightening and the American youth is becoming ever more lazy. Americans are also becoming immoral, even American officials are becoming more involved in various sex scandles. In addition, technology is speeding up our descent into a back water, nonindustrial, lazy country. Technology is great, however we are becoming over-reliant on said technology. Yes, but technic machines are easy to set up, and the resource gathering is repetitive with the menial labor. GMod machines are fairly hard to work with (multiplayer is also extremely good, TTT, RP, etc) which uses physics, something Minecraft is lacking.

I believe I am mixing up SirSengir with FC, but I might be wrong. I havent been on either's forum postings in a long time... (3 months) I'm not a modder, although I am currently in a programming class, and I tend not to keep up with update news. I am sorry about any information I got wrong, the last I really kept up with him was before he started his ummm, insanity streak, so to speak.....

Flower Child , as we all know is an a**h*** modder, will have his master-plan sunk when 1.3 comes out. As we all know, FC is a hypocrite and loathes Forge, yet he develops an API along the same lines as forge (I know this from an interview taken after he left forge, and after he took a turn to the worst). Yet, when the official API comes out, what shall he do? And, with the additional IDs, his whole plan is going down in flames. He, as usual, will roll up in a fetal position and start crying his eyes out at his "ruined life" as a modder, and how he will lose half his remaining fan-base when they see the light of his jerkiness, and how he chooses to remain as he is in light of the right conditions to come out of his shell. I can already hear him screaming, "MY AD.FLY PENNIES, WHY NOTCH, WHY DID YOU TAKE MY LIFE'S WORTH AND DISPOSABLE INCOME!? WHY!?". Now, who shares my opinion?

Yes, I would have to agree with that opinion, however, they had to have taken it out of Technic/Tekkit for a reason. That being said, it is extremely simple to install a simple mod such as that, and it is Forge reliant, which reduces errors. If you were to run into problems, you have multiple options. One of said options would be to simply exclude it until 1.3 is out( I think along with the modding API, they are adding new block IDs), your second option would be to just edit the block IDs yourself to get it to work, or you could find an alternative (such as Flan's mod).

I see a lot of these types of people. Kids that are so narscistic, they waste space on forums like these. Your not that special, we all had a girlfriend. But we don't want to hear your girlfriend rotations. I mean its understandable for one post, but to get a new girlfriend EVERY WEEK, that's just horrible, let alone mindlessly post about it on the forums.

This series of posts/entries are very depressing if this is where humanity is heading. I didn't get my first girlfriend until I was late in highscool. Its gotten so bad, we have illiterate, extremely poor welfare milkers pumping out babies at 15, taking the taxpayers money. We as a civilisation are devolving at a trumendous pace.
