New Update - Where's Computer Craft?
jakj replied to Ange1ofD4rkness's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
The launcher doesn't "push" the dev version. You just have stupid users who need to learn to not press buttons. -
Yeah, the f2p model leads to customer satisfaction. I haven't played ddo in almost a year, and I have almost $80 in points sitting there with no regrets. I know I can go back whenever the hell I please and the game will just say "sire may I show you these twenty awesome things we made for you while you were away". It's tge Right model.

You assume this would be true under your method of forum management. You are incorrect.

This is excellent; I like it.

Oh, you're so cute! Can I pinch your cheeks? That youthful innocence that all it takes is a sticky to answer freqently-asked questions. Adorable. You know the fact that we already have stickies with all this covered? Yeah, we already have those. You know what's great about stickies? You apparently didn't even read them sufficiently to realize we already have the sticky you just suggested we make. It's a blank box that has a button that says "Search" on it. It's right there. On every searchable page. It's as easy as Google. If anybody can't figure out the search function, they are too stupid to even be on this forum, and we'll be glad to see them the fuck gone.

Anyone who gets offended and leaves is someone we wouldn't want here anyway. This is not a popularity contest; Quality over quantity.

How, exactly? What is the technical spec. of the answer to "it doesn't work"?
-
You must be new here.

Millenaire... Does it have to be there?
jakj replied to SkitsofRandom's question in Technic Launcher
Yes, it has zero impact on your game if you turn it off in Modloader.cfg: It doesn't consume block IDs, it causes no lag, etc., so just do that. Some people love Millenaire. I'd probably run it if it didn't cause so much entity lag from AI. -
H/M is way more impressive than TFC. Not to belittle TFC: H/M just has had (in my personal opinion) a lot more work and creativity put into it.

"Dimensions" or some parallel world mod (Now a Mystcraft thread)
jakj replied to PringleMan's topic in Cafe Lame
I assume Mystcraft requires base-class overrides to be put into the modpack.jar? What you need to do is start with a fresh Technic, then look at each file that you put in the modpack.jar but first see if that file is already in the modpack.jar. It is possible to decompile, merge, and recompile such files to make them compatible. (Example: If you have abc.class in mod A and mod B, mod A might modify the function Func1(), and the other might modify Func2(), but because you cannot override members but only full classes, they both have to distribute abc.class. But what you can do is create a new abc.class that includes both the new Func1() and the new Func2().) This is, however, a lot of work, and has to be re-done for each new version of Minecraft or Technic, so I doubt you'd find anyone willing to do that for 1.1 at this point, but probably people might for 1.2.5 when that recommended build comes out. Keep it in the back of your mind, and post again when that happens. -
Sound's awesome what? Does this Sound person have many awesome things?
-
They can't add a new modpack for every possible combination of mods. Just learn how to turn mods on and off.

Yeah, soloing is a big deal for me too; I'd rather all these MMOs were singleplayer actually. Dealing with other real human beings in video games never adds anything to me, not when AI has advanced to such a degree that I can't tell real people from computers apart unless I'm specifically looking for behavioural cues. Here's to hoping they fix solo balance.

Using Smartphone As Gaming Headset For Computer Via USB
jakj replied to jakj's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Because I don't feel the need to waste money on a gaming headset or a usb microphone when I have a microphone right there in my phone. I've tried getting inexpensive 3.5mm-jack microphones and they are one-and-all total shit. I also don't have a bluetooth dongle for my computer. Considering the fact that I can tether my computer's internet connection by the USB cable and use it as a full gateway, the USB connection should be more than capable of doing this. Maybe there would even be some sort of Android app for the phone that could forward through the USB port to an application on the computer. -
I have a Droid RAZR. I want to be able to plug it in via USB to my computer, plug a pair of headphones into the phone, and use the headphones to hear the PC audio and use the phone's microphone as my PC's microphone in voice-chat software. Google just tells me how I can do that via Bluetooth (kinda), and how to go the other way (using PC headset as phone in/out), but not what I want. I have Windows 7 and would prefer to do it natively, but I do have enough spare ram/processor to run a virtual Un*x box at the same time if necessary.

Been watching footage from Jesse/Kiskae, and it looks like freakachu is right on all counts. Unless something drastic happens, I will most likely be buying this game on release. From what I've been able to tell so far from watching them, the only things that would concern me about availability and inaccessibility for all playstyles, are things that are not tracked. That's even better than SW:TOR is managing (and I like SW:TOR).

Why not? What limited use this thread provided to anybody was had within the first few posts.

Chunk Loading Question - Minecarts vs Power
jakj replied to Yeraze's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Yes, they look very promising abd I'm excited to test them. We'll see how they do on loading chunks when the world is first opened. -
New Update - Where's Computer Craft?
jakj replied to Ange1ofD4rkness's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Bullshit. The computers are completely different and work fine side-by-side. I want both, and there's no reason to get rid of one in favor of the other. -
The point is that each selection in the launcher is basically a different game, and this is true so far for Technic, Tekkit, Yogbox, H/M, and VoxelBox: Basically all different games. The question to be asked is "does total-conversion mod X feel like a different game than the rest".
-
TMI may very well work (Lewis does use it, after all), but NEI we know works with Technic, so will probably be easier to get working with another Technic-Pack modset.
-
1) I recommend trying NEI instead of TMI. 2) This should have been in the Yogbox forum. 3) Put things in modpack.jar, not minecraft.jar. 4) If it doesn't work, post a crash log here if you can't figure it out. (NOT in the bug board...no non-Pack mod support in the bug board.)

I'd be extremely inefficient, but you could make fuel to burn in steam engines using UU-matter.
