Suggestions for Tekkit 3.1.0
aldrigviking replied to aldrigviking's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
It's just that imo, tekkit 3.0.4 is somewhat broken. So many errors and bugs that have been fixed. Personally, I think that Tekkit 3 was pushed out too quickly. I would gladly have waited for a more stable version, before changing from 2.1.0 (which by the time Tekkit 3 came out, were many times more stable than Tekkit 3 is now). -
not necessarily - can happen if the launcher screws up during authentication - happens to me sometimes.

74 views and no replies? Well first of all, there are tons of good tutorials out there.. literally.. thousands... Use google or look on the forum (I know for a fact that there are several good written guides on this forum) - imo, youtube tutorials seems to be mediocre at best. btw, did you buy the game? if not, then I can't/won't help you.

try setting view distance to normal+64 or something like that. Servers usually don't let you load chunks further than that anyway. also, 2GB ram should be more than enough for SMP play.
-
shut down launcher, game, java. anything that actually uses those files and try again.

shut down the launcher and start it up again. Happens sometimes. Please put in a more describing title next time.

I don't think it's covered in any faq because it's quite obvious (launcher link is like... right there on your left, when you enter the website)... sorry about that, but you kinda deserved that one anyways, glad to see another tekkit player onbaord :) -

jsut to clarify, are you using the tekkit client? -
yes, but that would be pointless since they are indestructible

your client is probably outdated, since it refers to YOU not having forge installed. -
I added cobblestone and dirt to recycler blacklist in the IC2 config. pretty much fixed the problem without any hassle. Also, cobblegens are a pain in the ass. they generate waaay to much lag, especially if you have a logging plugin that doesn't ignore cobblegens ;)

BC-IC2 Crossover Mod for Tekkit?

I'm not even gonna go there mate... poking a hornets nest is not my thing. -

just rename tekkit to craftbukkit.jar (I guess that's what you wanted to do?) - it will have no impact on server whatsoever. Tekkit does work with spoutcraft, but in a VERY limited way - first of all, you need to get the EXACT build that works with the craftbukkit build tekkit uses, and even then it might cause some conflicts. I strongly suggest that you don't mix spoutcraft and tekkit if you're new to this (I only got it to work with tekkit 2.1.0, not even gonna try with tekkit 3) -

technic (mods) + bukkit = tekkit (crafty huh?) Installation instructions are hardly needed for. Just extract it and fire it up. If you REALLY need installation instructions, try googling "craftbukkit install" - since tekkit essentially is craftbukkit, the same rules should apply to tekkit as well. -
same biome generating throughout the entire world
aldrigviking replied to aidanhd500's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
it's also caused by a glitch in the craftbukkit version that tekkit 3.0.4 uses... -
just replace the blockid of the blocks you want to remove, in the config file, with a free blockid, restart your server, let it run for a while, and bam, they get removed. Change the blockid back to the original when you're satisfied. If you want to exclude them from being craftable/placable/interactable, etc, I strongly suggest you look into using permissions ex (modify world nodes specifically).

That's probably where the problem lies... Can't say for sure why it fails updating, maybe a mod can answer that?

Need Help Installing Smart Moving
aldrigviking replied to Lite-Bite's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Didn't know that. Thanks for clearing up on that, might be adding it to my own server as well :) -
Totally fresh install, including new worlds? - 'cause if so, there shouldn't be any problems. Or are we talking about the client here? If so, delete your entire tekkit folder and start over.

1 gig? damn.. I had hoped my server ran with that amount. I have 8GB available, and tekkit just eats up at least 2.5GB within minutes (heap size), even though I have some aggressive java garbage collection on it, guess that's the consequences og having multiple worlds.

Some people just never learn "the thrill of survival". Why have survival mode on, if you're gonna cheat anyways? Personally as a server owner myself, I have never needed an x-ray mod (what would I need it for?). Since EE became part of Tekkit, diamonds also became overrated. gl hf cheating... hope you get banned.

chill GRANTSWIM... go here dev.bukkit.org and look for plugins that support version 1.2.5-R1.3 (preferably, but other 1.2.5 versions might works as well). I have no clue as to what you're looking for, but take a look yourself, there's plenty of plugins to go around.

Tested it out on a testserver and it fixes a LOT of bugs, especially in EE. If tekkit staff wants me to, I can put together a new modpack.jar or just post a list with links to where the mods can be found while supplying the new config files. I really hope the tekkit team takes this into consideration, since 3.0.4 needs some severe attention when talking about cpu/ram usage as well as other small bugs.

When you run the server, the plugin will create a folder inside your mcmmo plugin folder, called "ModConfigs" - just place them there. EDIT: Remember to enable them in the mcmmo config.yml - should look something like this:
-
will be adding EE items to those mod files and posting them later today.
