Nether bricks can be made by compressing 3 netherrack in a compressor. Also, you can just craft those stairs and fences with the nether bricks. So that's a way to not use EE to make nether bricks :].

Then you're on 6.0.7. Have you tried reïnstalling the whole thing? Backup your current .techniclauncher folder somewhere else and let the launcher generate a new .techniclauncher for you.

The launcher has a different version and the Technic also has it's own versions. What I ment was, are you using 6.0.7, for MC 1.1, 6.1.1, which is for MC 1.2.3 if I'm not wrong and there is a 7.0.1 for MC 1.2.5. You could maybe tell us atleast which MC version you are playing on.

Basically is every ssp world now a smp world and there would be no more ssp anymore. (You will still have to port forward to actually let other people join your world.)

There's a 4096 ID's fix on her thread, which could help. I have that fix installed on my custom modpack. :D
