Reality? Should be enough just to look at IC2 over time. If not here is a quote from RichardG. You can ignore most of it. It's mainly a dude having a fight with him, and him yelling about someone that isn't us for once. I'm not really interested in all that. They don't really care about IC2 personally. They are just keeping it going as long as they can. And they are spending more time trying to enforce DRM on a mod they aren't even creatively interested in, than they spend working on it. Take what you want from that. These people all have their own mods they care about. IC2 doesn't have that anymore. Nothing lasts forever (Except Glorious Peoples Technic! Long live Technic!). Just the way it goes.

IC2 is no longer being developed. The people maintaining it have said that the original author disappeared and they are only updating it at this point. They are never going to add anything new. They are never going to improve it or fix anything or rebalance it or anything that might stop it from going out of date (it already has). It is the same as your horse dying and someone else comes to drag it down the road. Just because it's moving doesn't mean it's not dead. Redpower is still being worked on, but Elo is clearly overwhelmed by irl. Happens to the best of us. Real life is more important than Minecraft legos. As amazing as redpower is, new mods have shown up that replace most of RP's functionality. Eloraam has been pretty unwilling to work with anyone or even respond to anyone in the community. People are also pretty tired of the volcanoes and giant trees. Bottom line though is that redpower has always been the last mod to update every time. We would still be waiting to release Tekkit if we were to hold out for Redpower. In the past it has delayed our release by a pretty standard two weeks+, with all the other mods ready to go. It's just time to move on. Honestly people. It's time to give new modders with great looking mods, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work together, a chance to shine instead of stubbornly sticking to what you know. All these amazing new modders in Tekkit? They're all cool people doing amazing work. They're working with us directly, and even better, they're working with each other. Just spend some time learning how to use these new mods. Pretty soon they're going to be the ones you cant play Minecraft without. :dealwithit:

You need to log in with your Minecraft account. It is a separate account from Technic stuff that you get when you buy Minecraft. You're welcome.

Textures and models. I am a man of many talents but I don't have time to learn java. I've been learning 3D modeling instead More in line with my skill set and more useful to me personally.

I'm going to be working on a mod with Deathrat once he finishes his current project. It's going to be a new reason to recycle, since we've lost IC2 recyclers. IC2 recyclers are the only things I miss from IC2. Scrap and scrapboxes were only semi useful though, so I feel like our mod is going to make up for it pretty well.

Just so you know, adding "tekkit" or "technic" in your pack names on the platform is against our usage terms. It would be deleted.

Did you draw it? post it here. Heads up though, unless you can 3D model it, you're probably out of luck. I taught myself how to do so a few weeks ago so I could help out some of the modders. People will take "idea guys" more seriously if they can back up their thoughts with some practical application like modeling and texturing.

Those replacements are being developed as we speak. I'm actually helping here and there. They look goooood.

We're most interested in delivering a solid experience. Can't make it a popularity contest and stubbornly stick with the celebs just because they're well known. IC2 and Redpower were both cornerstone mods but new modders have stepped up to produce some amazing work. We've always been about highlighting the amazing work of modders and showing them off to the community. With the new mod lineup for Tekkit, we see a lot of those modders who are easily going to become the next big recognized names. Most of their mods replace a lot of the IC2 and Redpower functionality with their own takes, which in many ways are a bit more cutting edge and easier on computer performance. Take that with the fact that Redpower has always been the major holdup for every pack update adding weeks onto release dates. We think it's just time to move on. Just have to grit our teeth and weather the initial knee jerk reactions until people realize that these new mods are on a whole new level, and this update is probably going to be the best in a long time. Just look at this website afterall. www.technicpack.net/tekkit sexy it has to be good with a website and logo like that.

I should recommend for people not to abuse this kindness. When mods update you're going to want to update your pack, and you probably wont know how if someone else made it for you. If you just want a fun pack to use and don't care about updating then ok, but you have to learn sometime if you want to keep up to date.

You can have permission, but I went and there's nothing going on. See that the charity thing is there in the description though.

No one is going to arrest you at any rate. What he should try though is running his launcher as admin. It might not think it has permission to download the pack assets or even connect to the net to get them. Just right click and select run as admin from the drop down menu.

Don't do it, our government is awful and we're stuck with it for two more years.
