As much as everyone will enjoy debating Google policy for many pages to come, we are not Google, and this argument will not lead to some proof that we have anything other than good intentions for the community. This thread isn't proving very useful so I'll go ahead and close it. If all you can do is scavenger hunt for reasons to be mad at us then you should check your priorities. Focus on improving the community like we do.

The platform is an index and website. The new launcher is not the Platform. They are designed to be used together. Your issues with Voltz are separate.

I think you are really confused. You are mixing up a lot of different things. You may not know what platform is.

Hey, sorry gotta close your thread. If your pack is for a server you can post that server in the platform servers section, but no threads for just packs. That is what the platform is for. Like a billion people rushed it and are using it now so the forums can't handle private pack threads.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of the Technic Platform?

It's not included because of technical reasons. One of them being is that there are no universal settings that play nice on everyones computers. It's something you need to install for yourself. I use it and personally I see vast improvements, but a lot of people didn't. Plus some other stuff I think.

Oh god! One hour?!? Not much time! Ok quick, compare us to hitler! We need some to kick this whole thing off. Tell us how awful we are for spending weeks of near full time work developing the new launcher and platform for the community to use. Hit us hard with several reasons why it's a bad thing that we made professional looking and extremely useful programs and tools, all free to use, and designed to benefit of everyone, modders, players and server ops alike. Also if you have time, please please tell us why anyone should have any reason to be mad at us for this. We get full permission for the packs we distribute. We don't have the means to police the internet and don't want to. We recommend everyone seek permissions for their packs should they choose to make them public. We don't host anything. This is just an index. We're offering the tools publicly, because modding communities thrive on sharing and offering your work to the public to use and build from. People will use our tools however they think they should. We're going to remain neutral. Everything we do is above board. If anyone has any issues with someone elses modpacks, please take it up with them. Not us. Platform isn't some jab at modders. It isn't a grandstand for opinions or beliefs. It isn't a declaration of war. If you look closely, it is a tool box. Don't write down your complaints and put them in the tool box. That would be silly. You would look silly. Talk to the people using the tools in ways you dislike. Leave the people who are using them properly, alone. I'll ask everyone to stop discussing this now thanks.

Because some issues with google sending too many crawlers at us was causing major issues with our site. And also because we're making an entirely new site. It's up now.

Completely new launcher design dropped. Platform now official. More features will be added within the next week but we're now leaving beta. Erryone go hog wild!

I don't believe you can use 64 bit java with a 32 bit OS.

I can answer some of these. The whole Platform is for custom packs so there wont really be a section. It'll be the whole index. I suppose there are two sections. You can list both public or private packs. Private being of course only those you give access to. I don't know about bug tracking. At the moment each uploaded pack has a page which you can update with information. I believe you can also display a link to your own site so you could easily link your own blog or forums of some kind. Enjin can hook you up with all that good stuff. There are some other tools available on the pack page but I wont get into it since its still closed beta and things can still change. The servers using the platform to maintain a custom mod loadout belong in the custom pack section section yes. It occcurs to me that those threads would be a reasonable place for bug reporting. We won't be hosting or providing support for custom packs though (obviously) so you'll be dealing with each pack maintainer directly.

How do I add a pack from the Platform to the Launcher? Go to the platform page for the pack you want to play, and copy the platform URL (or click the URL button next to it to copy to clipboard). Open the new launcher. Click "Add New Pack" in the pack select slide. Click "paste". Click "Add Modpack" to add it or "Change Folder" to tell the Launcher to save that modpack to a different location then usual. Done. It is so goddamn easy it hurts. I feel like, we are so used to having to suffer to play mods, let alone mods in pack form. Not being punished for wanting to play modded Minecraft will take some getting used to.
