The one week countdown of Xantym, One Bad ASS Cat's 2 month probation has reached it's final week. Here we remember him as he was once, rather then what he spun out of control to become. We watched him toil fruitlessly with axes, be tormented by the failure of fire, and finally find success in devastating nuclear detonation. Truly a success story worthy of the silver screen and red carpet. But of course, every star can fall. The forums were heartbroken when Xantym went off the rails and began to make serious rules infractions. Posting the irl names of members and creating spam threads. His habit of PMing admins inflamed into an overnight addiction. He was drunk with fame and spoiled by the lax hand of the moderators, too starstruck to keep him in line. It was finally too late and he was banished. At the last moment, the moderation staff felt a pang of weakness, missing the good old days of One Bad ASS Cats harmless antics. His ban was changed to a two month probation. Surely that was as good as a ban? No one could wait two months and then come back! We had only empty excuses for our failure to follow through. Now there are only [6] days. Will he return? Will he have to be promptly banned for good if he comes back, mad as ever? Only time will tell. Let us discuss One Bad ASS Cat Xantym here. This is either the problem that sprang up from the recent MC update, or your antivirus. Possibly both! Redownload the launcher from the sidebar on the mainsite. If that doesn't work, disable your antivirus and try it. If that DOES work, set the launcher up as an exception to your antivirus's firewall. I don't care if you've already done this in the past. It's possible that redownloading the launcher breaks that.

How can you know what to disable or enable if you don't know what any of the mods are? Sounds like a problem with being lazy really.

Redownload the launcher. If that doesn't work it's your AVG, but it's probably a problem people were getting because of the MC update. We fixed it earlier but you need to redownload.

The DMCA thing had nothing to do with the modders and no longer effects us. Someone (we have a feeling it's the bukkit port person) acted against us without understanding how we operate and ended up posting a fraudulent DMCA takedown. We're already looking at our options and if we want to peruse the matter at all. Stop acting like you know whats going on, and no, we don't give a shit about adf.ly. Adf.ly being awful is half the reason Technic exists. The modders make more though donations from the donation page then they did with Adf.ly anyway. There is already a solution to this "problem". Go donate to all the modders using the donation page! If you mention technic it may or may not help, but it doesn't matter. As long as the modders are rewarded for their work.

This is all probably due to the minecraft update today. A global fix has been applied. Go redownload the launcher. (exe users too)

This has already been sorted out. It wasn't any of the mod authors, just someone who doesn't understand how we operate pretending they have authority to speak for a bunch of people they don't. They were misinformed and the takedown was fraudulent. We are exploring every avenue right now, good or bad.

Should no longer be needed. Global fix just pushed.

In the end, those who moderate the forums make the calls. It's up to them to enforce these rules at their discretion. Sure they may let something slide once or twice, but don't get upset when you are punished for being an idiot. Don't email anyone saying "WHY WAS I PUNISHED I DIDN'T BREAK THE RULES I HATE YOU!"
