Tekkit is very resource heavy.

Well, there's the easy way, which is to get rid of advanced machines. And then there's the harder way (that I'm not even sure will work), which is to launch your server in java 7 and your client in java 6. I believe this is possible through "Open with" in the right click menu.

Items =/= Blocks As for the marble issue, I think it's because worldedit isn't configured to handle mod blocks with damage values.

The answer is no for everything. Mo Creatures is an SSP-only mod, because the SMP version was discontinued after 1.8.1. (?)

Did you happen to download java 32bit for your 64bit computer? Also, use the bug report format.

I'm not sure at this point. Try reinstalling java, I guess? But only install JRE. You don't need both, and that might be an issue.

Did you make sure it's the right version for your OS? By that I mean 32 bit or 64 bit. Also, you can't just say you have "Windows". There are different versions of windows. Put something like "Windows 7 32bit".

These are all generic. Make some creative challenges with detail. Things like: Create a geothermal powerplant in the nether, using lava lakes as your source. Then, find a way to transfer the power to the overworld for use there.

Minecraft is 1.2.5. As of now, there's no downgrade to 1.1 for the launcher to use, so it can't update properly. Just wait it out; the technic team will push out an update soon enough.

The launcher currently has no downgrade for 1.2.5, which is what it's trying to download since it's the newest release. You'll have to wait for the team to make a downgrade and put out an update for the launcher.

I'm not sure, but I think MCEdit can replace all the blocks with air or something. Then again, I've never used it nor do I know if it works with tekkit or not. Give it a shot but back up your world before opening it. If it does work, though, make sure to notify your players (and maybe reimburse them)

Your pipes are backwards. It's trying to extract items from the furnace. Use a buildcraft wrench (The grey one, I think) and right click the pipes so the clear side is the one attached to the furnace.
