You could use wireless redstone on every button (could also probably all be on the same channel for one floor) and link it to the ground floor rig. That way, only the ground floor part has to be built.

An RSNOR latch has 2 inputs: Trigger, and clear. I'm not sure if redpower has a logic gate for this, but you can certainly build one with vanilla redstone.

As for your floor selection issue, you can put them all on latches with repeaters on them, and have every button clear all of them. This way, after all the latches are cleared, the repeater will give a signal to the selected latch to flip it, and it'll be the new and only selection.

Are you playing tekkit or technic? (Edit: Derp, it's a server.) This is the tekkit board, and you mentioned mo creatures. If you custom installed that, it's possible an ogre is trolling you and blowing stuff up.

I believe IC2 has a block that's like the trade-o-mat, but only with energy. You can set the prices, but I think it only charges batteries. If only there was a block like that that monitored current... Probably easily moddable.

Restart your server and don't ever reload plugins. That's a known issue with bukkit, and it breaks crafting of mod items.

Direwolf, perhaps? His series is more complete, and explains what to do and how things work far better than the yogscast series. EDIT: Forgot to mention, he plays SSP and has his own mod setup. It's very similar to tekkit though, except for stuff like portal gun mod and other things.
