  1. I don't have such a large list of top-tier games as the previous posts, but I have at least one suggestion. League of Legends is pretty cool. One thing I like about it, a nice feature in games, is that it offers a quality experience without charging for the gameplay. Every element that affects actual gameplay can be obtained for free, so you can't buy your way into supremacy. This means the game is a rts, the most imporant elements of levels and abilities being gained per game instead of over time, and test of raw skill, as opposed to some games in which the player with the most money invested or the most time spent grinding is considered the champion. One thing I've hated about the not-so-great MMOs is that it becomes a competition of grinding and farming, and not of skill. If a bot can play the game for you, and actually be good at it, it's not a good game.
  2. Humanity does suck at times. The majority of mankind has been, in relatively civil terms, a bunch of assholes. Thousands of years into recorded human history, and we're only just recently making a few actual attempts to consider most of mankind equal regardless of race, age, and opinion. I think that one day the majority of humans will be able to agree to disagree. I'm not denying that there will always be a recognizable group of people out there who maintain man's old brutish ideas, but I think we still aren't completely hopeless. For now we were just born into the birth of a transitional phase in human thought. This discussion is already revolutionary. We've acknowledged that humans themselves are and always have been a group of brutish savages who have up until recently followed only a path of destruction. More and more people are growing to accept that humanity as a whole has been destroying itself, and people are at least making an effort to improve. A hundred years ago, in western culture, to be non-white was to be sub-human, to be in open disagreement of religion without great conflict was rare, and to be homosexual was unspeakable. Today, we still have a lot of instances racism and extreme homophobia, but we've grown a lot over the past century. I think that over time, now that we know we've fucked up, we can build ourselves into a better race that can manage itself without the majority of people doing something to destroy what could be, impossible as it seems, an efficient system of humans. This may take a long time. Neither of us may live to see mankind at its best. But I think one day this can happen. We've survived for thousands of years, albeit unpleasantly. I think we can survive for a long time afterwards, and clean ourselves up over time.
  3. Is it strange that I read "great beasts" as "great breasts"? My biggest mistake in the game still is haunting me. I'm still having trouble shaking the habit. I haven't trained myself to see Fortress Value as a sort of difficulty setting, and forget to militarize by the time I've begun to attract all sorts of nasty things to my stockpile full of useless crap which I was going to sell. I overestimate my military when I see them tear apart the those... (I can't think of anything to say about the elves that's polite enough for this context)... Tree-hippy-pointy-ear-justin-bieber-hylian-wannabes... When I see a mostly untrained dwarf rip an elf's arm off and beat him to death with it, I become too smug with my makeshift militia's strength. When goblins show up, I overestimate the dwarf who knocked an elf's head off with a hammer.
  4. A world with only a pure torrential mass of raw information, containing no opinions or emotion, would die out quickly. Love could not exist, and as a result, sex would decline greatly and marriages would be nonexistant, seeing as from a logical view they are only an overly complex ceremony followed by a binding legal document that would be better sealed with only a signature if one wanted to bypass flourishes of feeling and not-so-informational things. Emotion could not be properly displayed, and if this policy of only necessary conversation kept on, emotion may die out. If we lose our opinions and feelings and become, or even just act as only mindless parts of one self-optimizing machine, would we still be those interesting, wonderful little humans that currently populate the earth? Luckily, humanity will never eat itself like that. There will always be some people disrupting the current balance, people opposing the majority for no reason other than the fact that it's the majority, people who can't do anything without injecting large amounts of bias and opinion into their work, and people who are just too ignorant to follow the efficient machine your idea would create. In fact, based off of how humans have been running themselves for the past (insert your preferable world age here) years, that inefficient minority will really be the majority.
  5. Just rename your computer. If you're running Windows 7... Go to the start menu. Hover over My Computer, and and right click. Select and click properties. There should be an "Advanced system settings" option, which opens a new settings window. Click the Computer Name tab. There should be an option there that allows you to change your computer name by clicking a "Change..." button. Once you enter a new, less regrettable name, re-install java and try again.
  6. Well, good luck helping in an SSP world, assuming you want to try playing a non-SMP compatible mod pack online.
  7. Me and another classmate kept seeing ants at school. Tons of ants. I have no experience with non-medical drugs, but he was still questioning whether the ants were real. At least they weren't in our food... Yesterday I went to subway. I ordered a small amount of ranch dressing. I got a small amount of ranch dressing. It was perfect. You guys just have bad luck. I've almost never gotten my order wrong at a food place.
  8. Ah. That misinformation. I corrected you on that, describing the Bits and Bobs that make up a computer. You shouldn't hide from people the necessity of tuning the ukulele to run technic.
  9. You like old games? Primitive forms of bowling have been around for 2 millenia. The graphics are okay, but a couple of the main items just tend to look like balls. Worth it though.
  10. Why, good sirs, ladies, and uncategorizable folks, I am fully unsure of what I have gazed upon! I assume those with less fanciness would say to this... "Dafuq i just read?" Doth this be an accurate translation from mine fanciness to the more primitive languages? Noob is surely not my native language.
  11. Yea! And then a swan crawled out of my computer! I know some people have ducks... But what does the swan mean?
  12. Yes, but did everything just taste purple for a moment? Anyone else notice that?
  13. No. Of course me meant to say manor. He means to present his posts from within a giant fancy house!
  14. The guy who makes my sandwiches seems fairly intelligent. Maybe I'll ask for a tiny amount of ranch and see if he can process tiny as "not a massive glob". Interesting experiment, and ranch doesn't taste that bad so it can't ruin the whole sandwich.
  15. I've gone to several subways, and always order a 12 inch Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki, with provolone, lettuce, tomato, green pepper, olives, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and sweet onion sauce. If I only list a few items at a time, at a reasonably slow pace, they never mess up my sandwich. It's pretty much always exactly what I ordered. I have surprisingly good luck with places like this...
  16. Bits, eh? You're all wrong. Computers are composed of many bits and bobs. The bits can be a large assortment of things, be it duck feathers, FlowerChild's excrement, or any other number of random items. If you only have 32 bits, you need to defenestrate your computer from at least 2 stories up. It will catch plenty of bits on the way down. But your biggest concern is the under-appreciated bobs. Your Windows system runs using thousands of bobs. Technic uses exactly 33 and one half bobs. If you allocate any amount other than 33.5 bobs to the launcher, the launcher will promptly proceed to shit itself, produce a common error described in the stickies, and hinder your eyesight, thus preventing you from reading the stickies. Buy some new glasses, read the stickies again, defenestrate your computer, tune your ukulele, allocate 12 bobs to Technic, play an inning of baseball, allocate the other 11 and a half, run around in circles until you feel tired, and watch an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. If you do not have a ukulele to tune, you may borrow one from a friend. The ukulele is vital to this process however, and Technic is almost impossible to configure without it. By messing around with bits, bobs, and bitbobs, I was able to substitute the ukulele for my violin, but that's very advanced stuff. You probably couldn't figure that out without years of study. If this doesn't fix technic, then I doubt anything else will. TL;DR summary: Det svenska språket är roligt och intressant.
  17. Lear85 here, looking for a small group to LP with, likely 2-3 people (including me). I can host a small server if nobody else can, but I can't record, due to my computer lacking use of Stereo Mix. I'm fairly experienced with the mods included in Tekkit, and am always open to new designs to improve the efficiency of my group's machinery. I am 16, male, and live in the United States. I am in the US Eastern time zone, and have a fairly flexible schedule for attending recordings. I try my best to maintain a serious, yet lively, attitude towards the game, and towards other players, and would do fairly well in showing off the mod items both to viewers, and to anyone in the group with less experience. PM me if you're interested. I have Skype, so communication won't be a probem.
