Not having an antivirus may end up badly. Get the viking here, this is an easy one.

Umm... couple quick questions. Do you currently have a working install? If so, what version of the launcher did you use for that? Also, what type of antivirus and firewall you are using is important as well. If you could include those we could help a LOT more.

Fortunately, there is a very simple way to update tekkit if the launcher doesn't work.

Fix the launcher, then use it to update tekkit.
