Ok to start this off, what is the tent that can be found near the pick and shovel kits and how does it work?

Hmm, the tent is use less in Technic 6, I think. Its not on the forestry wiki.

But the pick and shovel are very useful!

The tent is from Forestry, and it's meant to act as a one-shot bed, but it doesn't actually work. It was probably easier to disable the recipe than remove it entirely.

I would disagree about the utility of the pick and shovel. Making them requires a carpenter, and you have to make cartons, and all you get are tools that stack until you take them out of the box. I'm not sure how many uses they have, but I'm going to guess that "stack of boxed picks and shovels" is not as good as "mining drill and batpack."

The drill and batpack also have the advantages of only needing to be made once and not requiring a bunch of other machines.

typically, i don't ask, i pick it up, hit some stuff with it, try placing it, try thorwing it, and generally haveit explode in my face.

it can cross small gaps. up to 2 empty squares. theoretical max of 4 if you have 1 on each side of a gap and extend them towards the middle.

What are petrified logs and what mod are they from, because they mess up all of my wooden buildings.

they are the result of little to no aura and are from thaumcraft. throw some concentrated vis around or plant some more crystals in the chunk, because you have drained the aura completely.

Thanks, but what I don't understand is how the aura was depleted so fast since the map I am in is still fairly new. I wouldn't have expected

it to have been drained completely without their being any Thaumcraft related blocks placed on the chunk.

Some areas have naturally low aura. I also think high taint reduces aura over time? Can't remember if that was confirmed or not.
