How do I allocate more RAM to my launcher?

So I'm trying to run the Ultra Modded Survival modpack from CaptainSparklez's YouTube channel and I can run it up until I go to load the world and then it runs out of memory. I have a total of 5 gigs of ram on my computer but the launcher will only allow me to allocate 1 gig... Is there any way I can increase that limit?

if the launcher is only letting you use 1 gig, it means you are using 32-bit java to run the game/launcher.  from the sounds of it, you most likely have a 64-bit machine so you will need to install 64-bit java in order to fix the problem.

i'm using a 32 bit system, and i have the same problem i know there's probably nothing i can do but upgrade my system. but that's a lot for using one thing.

unfortunately, there's nothing else that can be done to get around it.  I know it sucks to be stuck with dated hardware, sorry about that.
