ChrysWhyte Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 So basically: http://www.mod-buildcraft.com/documentation/ Spacetoad (assumption) was trying to SELL copies of documentation for 2.x.x I dunno if anyone else was aware of this. The link seems to be dead now. Still gave me a chuckle. Quote
DemonCrusher36 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Worth a try right? Didnt flowerchild try this? Or im I dreaming about MC again? Oh, and BTW the link isnt dead: http://www.lulu.com/shop/spacetoad/buildcraft-handbook/ebook/product-17543829.html;jsessionid=B2DE3E262CEE1E3CAA2F2C5F5F754EFA Quote
Nethaufer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I'm 100% sure that selling a mod is illegal according to the, albeit vague, Minecraft TOS. Correct me if I'm wrong. Quote
perpetualgamer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Back when I was a simpleton I bought said documentation. Since then I have grown to hate all high-and-mighty mod makers. Quote
The Merchant of Menace Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I'm 100% sure that selling a mod is illegal according to the, albeit vague, Minecraft TOS. Correct me if I'm wrong. He's not selling the mod, he's just selling the instructions on how to use the mod. Quote
cmwatford Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I actually bought this back when I was a noob to the pack. At least it was cheap. Quote
Nethaufer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 He's not selling the mod, he's just selling the instructions on how to use the mod. ... Are you kidding me? That's... that's just plain pants-on-head-retarded. Quote
The Merchant of Menace Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Nope, back when he first started selling it, the Buildcraft Handbook was the only source of information on how to actually play with Buildcraft. Quote
derekristow Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I took it as more of a way to get something in return for supporting the mod author, since between Spacetoad and Direwolf20 there were plenty of videos showing how things worked. Quote
jakj Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I took it as more of a way to get something in return for supporting the mod author, since between Spacetoad and Direwolf20 there were plenty of videos showing how things worked. I agree with this point of view. I'm not saying I approve: I don't, and it was very annoying to be able to find no good information at all before I learned how to decompile things. What I do approve of, in theory, is charging for non-essentials as a form of voluntary donation. (This is how games like League of Legends stay profitable, by selling things that nobody needs but many want.) Quote
hoho Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Oh' date=' and BTW the link isnt dead:[/quote']Link is alive but information there is so hopelessly outdated it's borderline hilarious that someone expects people to buy it Quote
volbia Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Personally I'd buy it for a chuckle if the thing was updated Quote
Upandal Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Hm Instruction, novel idea. Might just save hours and hours of board trolling for answers. You youngin's might not remember this but there was a time when most things came with instructions. We saved so much time we could wright codes and things on our video adding boxes that eventually became videogames. ;) Quote
Forum Administrators KakerMix Posted July 11, 2012 Forum Administrators Posted July 11, 2012 The silly part about it was that the documentation was absolutely terrible and useless. I don't have any problem with it at all, but seriously. He could have at least tried to make it worth it. It seriously isn't worth free. Quote
