Um... No. I've played while waiting for the big mods to update, and I can definitively say no. It's like a strange, convoluted version of IC2, Buildcraft and Red Power, crammed into a soggy bowl of cereal.

I have a 3.4 ghz quad core CPU and I just bought 8gb of RAM. Will that be enough to simultaneously host a 20 player server and play on it myself?

I've been getting that too. My server only lags a bit. I also wanna know what's causing it.

Edit EE2? Technic / Tekkit is not the mantainer of that mod and therefore have no power over the internals of EE2, such as rebalancing it. As for using it it a SMP enviroment, it is an essential part of my admin tool kit. I would be quite bummed to see it go.

I generally avoid Voxel Box and that stinkin' Yog Box threads. (No offense.) My opinion on the Yogscast is that, in general, their content is mediocre at best with the exception of their Technic Pack preview. And the Voxel Box, because, well, I stink at architecture and have never tried to apply for their server because of it. ^_^
