  1. I think it's a good idea; I just don't know who removed it or why. Guess that's why there's a 'Talk' page... though they're not getting a lot of action right now.
  2. NICE! I didn't even realize that formatting existed, so that's great to see; and not so bad, now that I've seen your code... a bit hard to read if you've never seen it before, but not too bad. Thanks for doing that, as I think it makes it much nicer to look at, Had a busy weekend, so didn't get in much editing at all. Now I'm trying to decide if I should spend my time raising the quality of Thermal Expansion or just getting stubs started for all nonexistent pages in MFR. Guess I'll just bounce back and forth for the moment, as the mood takes me.
  3. watch that video I linked to above -- after he uses his quarry, he sets up a planter/harvester combo along with bioreactors to generate loads of energy... and he at least sort of deals with the planter. In brief, you hook it up to power and it will plant a 3x3 dirt area above it with whatever is in its inventory. In conjunction with a harvester, the harvester will grab mature crops and if you use pipe you can pipe seeds/saplings right back into the planter for replanting. Maybe take a look at: http://tekkitlite.wikia.com/wiki/Planter and read up on how MineFactory Reloaded upgrades work. In fact, I think I need to add some similar pics to the new Tekkit wiki along those lines...
  4. I found much of the first 6 minutes of this video very helpful. I also discovered that a quarry took WAY more power than I realized, which might have some bearing on your problem. And lastly, be sure you have a good place to store items, because when it gets up to speed they just keep pouring in.
  5. honestly, I have no idea. I'm already a number of builds behind you because I didn't bother updating to the one that I linked for you. Once I got it working for me, I filed it away to deal with at a later time... :-)
  6. Dash, I'm actually not sure what guide you're talking about... I feel like I've seen one, but couldn't find one now that I went looking. Am I just being completely blind?
  7. Try MCPC-Plus instead of Bukkitforge. I finally got it working though I admittedly know next-to-nothing about plugins. I downloaded the latest MCPC build that was compatible with Tekkit (in this case, the latest stable build appears to be 503; grab the "C503.jar" file for 1.5.1 compatibility). Instructions for installation are here, but I'll tailor them to the Tekkit install (because I found it very disconcerting the first time I changed important filenames that I really didn't understand). (1) download that build mentioned above, (2) replace the 'Tekkit.jar' file that starts up your server with the new MCPC-Plus file (just rename it Tekkit.jar; I saved the old one as Tekkit.jar.OLD just in case) (3) since you've renamed the file, your batch file for executing the program should already be pointing at it, so you should be good to go (4) after running the server once, the Plugins folder should be available. Drop in the 'essentials' plugin and restart the server... (5) for me at least, way down on line 641 - 646, I had to make sure 'build:' and 'use:' were both set to 'false'. I'm still learning about permissions and it took me forever to figure out they were preventing me from just about any interaction with my world. There's probably another way to solve my problem, but that was the one I found. Hope this helps and sorry if you knew most of that... I'm sure others could use the instructions.
  8. hmm, I didn't get around to that one; it's Applied Energistics, right? I'll have to look it up. EDIT: the best I could find is this, from the AE site -- not terribly specific, but maybe all the way from about 15-65?:
  9. here's a chart I made for my own use, from the config file for Thermal Expansion. It doesn't really address percentage of blocks for a given ore, but at least shows rough levels to look at. That said, I believe that diamond really tapers off starting at about level 12, so I tend to mine at 9 - 11 and have had pretty good success. (see second image, below -- borrowed from ) If some of this is outdated, please let me know...
  10. Hah, I'm not much different. I've just been spending a lot of time poring over other pages and template files in an attempt to understand how it all works.
  11. After poking around at the appropriate template, I added text for "Current Version". Just use "|cv=1.2.3" to identify version 1.2.3.
  12. any chance you could give me pointers/direction to create some additional templates (e.g., the induction smelter)? I can see the existing code for the furnace and crafting table grid, but it's just enough outside my understanding that I can't figure it out without a lot of trial and error (which I don't want to do on the wiki, cluttering up some page with a million revisions). I've googled every keyword combination I can think of and find lots of links to instructions for *using* templates but no instructions for *creating* templates (correction: Dash16 pointed me toward the wikimedia.org help which is teasing me and almost has me thinking I can do this). But if you happened to have some way of simplifying this I certainly wouldn't turn you down. :-)
  13. Based on your response to the 832nd version of "WTF! IC2 IS GONE!", looks like you caught a second wind. ;-) I didn't realize how brief that mod was until just looking into it; looks like it makes sense to remove stub status. In fact, I should probably go through a bunch of my edits and remove stub status. Thanks for joining in!
  14. Figured out the Minium Stone issue; whoever added that stuff used the "Grid/Crafting Table" template instead of the "Crafting grid" template and that, apparently, makes all the difference. So I switched them all. I want to try to see if I can use some html to align them all in a grid for space savings (that's a long list), but don't think I'm going to get to that tonight. I think a bunch of templates would be nice; just don't have any solid ideas of the best way to organize and/or store them.
  15. Do you mean like crafting templates, smelting templates, etc.? Or do you mean templates for complete pages? Or maybe both? I mean, I can just grab an existing page and make changes, but I suppose blank ones would speed things along just a little bit more. If you get a chance, check out: http://wiki.technicpack.net/Compressed_Sawdust . Any idea why I'm getting that goofy gap in the middle (between Crafting and Usage)? No idea how to fix it...
  16. just noticed you added the (8) units to the rednet cable recipe; did you just create your own graphic, or is there a slick way to do that? No sense in me going out of my way if you have a shortcut. [EDIT: Never mind... sheesh. I apparently am getting slower with every passing year. For anybody else's sake, there's a handy edit to the page that puts the Output Amount (OA) into the recipe]
  17. I'm currently focusing my efforts on Buildcraft and Thermal Expansion because it seems I know those best. I'm just going item-by-item and filling in recipes/images that are obviously missing and occasionally editing/sprucing up the text to include more/better links. If you have suggestions for how to divvy this up, let me know.
  18. thanks to both of you, for prompting me to check keybindings for verification that this is working and for directing me to the /tekkitmain directory where the files are landing. Looking forward to using this. Dash -- in the meantime, I can at least fill in any spots you need a better image.
  19. lol -- that would explain it
  20. tried that; this is what happened -- http://pastebin.com/6naZAmm5 I don't really know enough about this stuff to begin figuring out where I'm going wrong. Like I said, I managed to get MCPC-Plus working after a lot of trial and error.
  21. Excellent idea; so far I've just been filling in information on things I know, which means I'll start in on a mod (e.g., MineFactory Reloaded) but then I'll hit something like Roads that I've never used and I'm hesitant to touch it. And then there're things like the "Health Syringe" that confound me -- maybe I'm being too particular, but in NEI it's a "Health Syringe" and on the Wiki it's "Healing Syringe". As a very detail-oriented guy, I think this should be changed, but I always wonder if there's a reason it was labeled "Healing Syringe" that I just don't know about. Another excellent idea. Not sure what you mean by "info box" -- do you mean the stuff at the right, with the image and is/isn't stackable, etc.? Crafting is a must, when applicable, and I'm trying to throw in basic info. Like we previously mentioned, I'm feeling stuck on more complex crafting, like induction smelting recipes. I've been trying out this page: http://wiki.technicpack.net/Special:Upload it might be the same basic result.
  22. argh -- apologies for the misinformation about the DSU [Edit: Deep Storage Unit]! My intent was to show how the Redstone Energy Cells could be used as a handy buffer to store the energy and regulate the activation of power generation when needed.
  23. my apologies for being dense, but I've no idea how to use that mod. I just recently learned how to use MCPC-Plus to add in some plugins, but otherwise rely solely on the Technic crew for putting things together. I'm guessing it's pretty straightforward, but I get a bit nervous monkeying with things I don't understand. For the record, I was *very slowly* editing my first page and spending a lot of time making sure I understood labeling and formatting and trying to figure out where/how all the pictures were handled. It just was a funny surprise when I tried to save my first edit and I got a conflict... at first I thought I had done something wrong myself. [EDIT: And one more thing... I can't figure out how to independently add the 32px image for an item. If it's included in a recipe, you just have to click on it; but if it's missing from the Mod Template at the bottom of the page there's no simple link to follow (e.g., the BC Wrench). Surely there's an easy way to get at that... but what/how?]
  24. I really like this method. It still works well for my needs, but I've not gotten around to trying out the AE stuff yet (except the DSU -- so ridiculously helpful).
  25. lol -- yeah, it took me a while to figure out that 'nearest neighbor' trick (thanks to Google), but it's working like a charm. You managed to ninja one of my 'edits' today... hehe. I was in the middle of it and suddenly all the dust/ingots were complete. I did notice that somebody is occasionally putting up much nicer 128-bit images (e.g., the sawmill); do you know if those are stored somewhere or just the product of someone with a lot more talent than I have?
