Did you restart after installing Java? Java doesn't get added to the system path until you do that, unless you add it manually.

Okey-doke. First, we start with firewall/antivirus because, between those and outdated copies of the launcher, they cause at least 75% of the problems people post on. I need you to understand something. The moderators here don't program the launcher, we have no interaction with the programmers other than perhaps a slightly louder voice when it comes to bringing up issues, and we certainly don't need to take crap for trying to be helpful. Have you ever worked in tech support? More than half the people have no clue where to start with troubleshooting, and you pretty much have to assume all of them are like that unless they demonstrate otherwise. You'll get people asking how to post a launcher log. You'll get people that provide only the very basics of information, which is not enough to make a call on anything, or even provide none at all. So, if you'll get the stick out of your rear end for a bit, figure out how to help them yourself, and then go do it, you'll make this forum a better place for everyone.

Also, you need to get rid of older versions of Java. Your launcher doesn't think you're using 7u5, and what it thinks matters more than what you think. :)

Your .NET Framework seems to be missing. Have you installed it?

OP: Are you sure you're in the correct User (account) directory? The files shouldn't disappear, but you may not be looking in the right folder.

World corruption due to power failures is a royal pain in the rear, which is why I would always recommend restoring from backups in a case like this. If you, for whatever bad reason, don't have backups, it looks like an Ender Chest is messing up your world for this particular error. Try removing it with MCEdit. Saving with MCEdit has the added effect of stopping world corruption from getting worse, sometimes.

All clearing the lastlogin file does is remove your login information, which means you have to put it in again. A failure to authenticate with minecraft.net means one of three things: 1) The minecraft.net auth servers are temporarily experiencing outages. You can check that here. Right now, just the anonymous data collection feature is down, but outages can be short, so you should bookmark that site and check it if you appear unable to connect. 2) Your launcher needs reinstalled for whatever reason. 3) Your Mojang/Minecraft accounts need their passwords reset or something. Obviously, this can only be done through Mojang. Don't PM me (or any other mod or admin) for personal help. Even if you get it, we get annoyed.

I was unaware of this, as I have never worn anything but a full suit of Quantum once I can get it. Reading the wiki, perhaps that's why many servers ban the quantum chestplate only, is because it is the determining factor in damage reduction.

Lookit, Skuli, I changed your thread icon. It would be a good idea to post a link or description of the fix you came across. The forum has been moving faster of late, and not everyone might have noticed it.

It is at this point that would make sure you have the newest launcher by completely removing it and downloading a new copy. I have had numerous problems myself when I tried to change launcher versions (even non-version-number-change versions) without deleting old files.

If it's not the same error as the OP, why did you post in here? That'd be threadjacking, a most vile offense in these parts! That's also clearly not the whole error message, as there's a scroll bar on the right side. I can't do anything because you didn't describe the problem well enough, nor provide enough information to troubleshoot.

This is most likely the case. You'll probably just have to wait until a launcher patch is deployed.

I seem to have been mistaken. I think the issue has to do with the latest pre-release from Mojang. I would guess there will be a launcher update shortly.
