  1. Actually, the crafting pipe is designed to work with the buildcraft autocrafting benches, and using that, it acts as both input and output. The extender pipes are designed to get rid of this problem, by allowing you to separate crafting input and output, as a contingency for other crafting systems. I still haven't worked out what the responder chips actually do, seem totally un-needed in all the designs I've built. Got a video rendering now, sans anything about responders.Fairly succinct I feel.
  2. Makes sense. I imagine that 1.7's streamlined code probably addressed that issue, but obviously we aren't there yet. Reasonably the best performance point on a modern CPU is memory cache size. Unfortunately chips with larger cache cost a hell of a lot more. At least as far as a game that uses as large an amount of RAM as modded minecraft.
  3. Been trying to work my way through some of the aspect of B-Team, whilst making a functional base out of it. Delving into some magic stuff in the near future. I've not got any real theme, I just hope you enjoy. The first two episodes I hadn't quite got the recording quality down, so I recommend starting from episode 3. Enjoy!
  4. I reckon someone just needs to write some stuff on a wiki somewhere. GB's video covered a large amount of the detail tbh. Still got no idea how extender pipes are meant to work... Edit: Spent a half hour playing, so may record an all-inclusive video on the stuff myself. The only thing I'm lacking is crafting pipes, which I think aren't all there at the moment.
  5. The lumber axe has a 3 by 3 by 3 area of effect. If any of those blocks are blocks of wood, it will break them. If any broken block of wood has only got blocks of wood above it until it reaches a leaf block (no air), it'll destroy all connected blocks of wood. This last step may have an area of effect as well, but I haven't tested this (it would make sense if it were an iterative process, so I would be quite surprised if it weren't).
  6. Really Loader? That surprises me (and I am by no means a computer scientist), but I would have thought that only actually allocated space on the heap would slow down the CPU, and that having a huge reserved empty block would be fairly unimportant? Please tell me more (:
  7. So, I'm not sure about the rules relating to whether or not your need a pneumatic servo, but, install on a pipe connected to the bottom of a tank, set the connection to output, and then, by clicking with an empty hand on the connection, set it to ignore redstone. This will work on pretty much any block with a tank, and can certainly be used to connect to a catalyser. If you get a system working which produces drops as well as XP, please show me, because I can't ever get both
  8. So, the problem is that there is something typed into your mapwriter config that minecraft doesn't know how to interpret. In this case it's an erroneous space. Reset that config, by deleting it, and a new one will write to replace it, which will not have this error. After this it should work fine.
  9. It just goes to show the importance of good documentation - if anyone had written anythign down about the project red pipes, we'd all have been using them weeks ago
  10. Oh, right, sorry, my misunderstanding, you're correct. Regardless, this doesn't change the fact that DSU are a slow to craft recipe.
  11. Very much support mechworks. Was likewise disappointed to find it missing
  12. Getting into TC is a huge step towards having sufficient resources. Fortune 3 still gives higher diamonds per ore than a pulveriser
  13. 1G is the limit for 32bit computers, or computers using 32 bit java
  14. Well, that would also be impossible, due to the way Minecraft handles similar items with different NBT tags in regards to inventory. So, I was not for a moment suggesting that fix. I merely suggest changing them to a recipe using a normal chest, and maybe more expensive metal, or something similar.
  15. The same thing happens with redstone conduits, if you fancied adding that
  16. Oh! It's a bug I've noticed before, resulting from microblocks sharing the same space as TE pipes. Don't know of any fix, other than to avoid putting microblocks in the same space as TE pipes.
  17. I've set it up to feed items into the strongbox froma creative strongbox, and it's been going for a good 20 minutes now, no problem. How frequently does this problem happen? Is there any pattern with regards to what items you put in or how full the chests are when they break?
  18. Canvox missed out the reactant dynamo, which is a very powerful way to generate power, once you get to that point in the tech progression. It doesn't take a huge network of energy cells and reactant dynamos to ensure reliable, high power supply.
  19. I think the problem is that we need a storage solution between hardened strongboxes, which are relatively low cost, but not especially large, and resonant strongboxes, which are unreasonably expensive. DSUs are great but, for storing a single item, quite expensive, and slow to craft, given that strongboxes don't stack. The problem with adding any other storage mod is that it would clutter the low end of storage with similar items, and totally unravel the cost associated with the resonant strongboxes. Perhaps a better solution would be to make the DSU recipe less painful? To not have to individually click in 4 strongboxes every time would be a game changer.
  20. It saddens me to read topics like this. I honestly could not have hated FTB more, and it was all down to the mods written above. Thermal Expansion and MFR offer a complete (anything is possible) and well balanced (no ridiculous Forestry vacuum tubes) tech solution, People should count themselves lucky they even get there, and move on to appreciate the finer art of the game.
  21. I can confirm that it is set to XP mode by default.
  22. I recommend to all of you to reset the pack, by clicking the cogwheel whilst on the Technic launcher. After that, post to the bug tracker, with a crash report from the .technicmodpacksattack-of-the-bteamcrash-reports folder.
  23. Alternatively, MFR has a magma fabricator, which is relatively quick.
