You still are operating under the assumption that people are too stupid to know what is running on their servers and only you stand in the pale mist to enlighten them. (This may actually be true, because there are a lot of stupid server admins, but they don't tend to be the popular servers, so it really matters little.) What you still have failed to do is provide a REASON to remove it from Tekkit when you can turn it off on a server-by-server basis. Server X having EE on in no way affects server Y having it off. Provide a logical, reasoned argument about why it needs to be removed when you can just turn it off, or shut the hell up.
-
That's what Kenneth told me.
-
You gave reasons you dislike it; You gave no reasons why it should be removed. ProTip: "Reasons" are the same root as the word "reasoning", as in, try some. Give an actual REASON that makes sense that it should be removed. "Because I dislike it" is not a reason. "Because I don't think people should use it" is not a reason. All you've done is sounded somehow arrogant and elitist by insulting anyone who does want to play with EE, as if they're beneath you or somehow lesser beings. You also say "so people think twice" as if you were somehow pointing out a novel viewpoint and educating the masses to the errors they're committing.

It's called "options". This is the world's most popular full-freedom sandbox computer game, where you can literally do anything. It's basically all games in one: You can fight monsters and level up, you can build nuclear reactors, you can cast magic spells, you can become a super hero, you can make guns and go into stealth-shooter mode, you can pilot aircraft, tanks, and boats, and whateverelsethefuck you want to do. And you're acting like a crime is being committed by having yet another option in there that people can turn on or off at will? Not to mention the fact that there are tens of thousands of Minecraft players who enjoy EE, and even some successful Tekkit servers with EE on. So you clearly are wrong to state that this is bad. You can dislike it, but it is not bad.
-
So you have no will or self-confidence to decide for yourself what to do? Do you let the world run your life? The name of the pack does not imply "technical". It's just a cool name. They've said this.
-
But what you are asking is stupid because you can just turn it off. If there is a light switch, why would you remove the light bulb?
-
If people come to your server wanting EE, either 1) give it to them so they stay, or 2) don't give it to them and tell them to leave.
-
"How frequent are updates" = "What is the ETA to the next update, and after that one, what will be the ETA to the next one" So what you're doing is asking for not one ETA but ALL of them. At once.

Somebody actually uses bitcoins? Fascinating.

"Dimensions" or some parallel world mod (Now a Mystcraft thread)
jakj replied to PringleMan's topic in Cafe Lame
My only excuse is too much Skyrim. But hey, Minecraft will still be here when either one of us gets around to it. Either we're worth waiting for, or nobody's losing anything anyway. Win-win. -
You're leaving a whole helluva lot out.

"Dimensions" or some parallel world mod (Now a Mystcraft thread)
jakj replied to PringleMan's topic in Cafe Lame
Layer 1) Original minecraft base class. Layer 2) Modified by Modloader. Layer 3) Modified by this mod. Layer 4) Possibly modified by something added by Technic. That's a lot of damn layers to maintain. Too risky. -

Oh, I see; It's a file ML didn't modify before but now does. That's much more reasonable. He'll probably come out with a compatibility patch for that like he has for Forge. -

It replaces one of Modloader's files? Oh good lord, why. Well, if it's that deep into replacing base classes, I just lost the desire to dick with it, unless community enthusiasm for the mod becomes huge. I'm not saying it's any less possible: It certainly is possible, as I've already replaced a Minecraft base class myself while including Forge code. But it just shouldn't be necessary. -

Modloader doesn't care whether or not it's in the mods directory or the minecraft.jar/modpack.jar: All it does is go through the mods directory, load anything extending BaseMod, and then walk through the net.minecraft.src namespace loading them all. You could take your entire mods directory and paste it into modpack.jar and it would work just fine. Have you tried installing this thing in a vanilla .jar with nothing except its absolute prerequisites? If that works, then we would have to work on things one-by-one to see what's going on, but if that doesn't work, then it's a fundamental compatibility or installation error that we'd have to iron out. -
Which is a hilarious name to say if you use the proper Japanese pronunciation.

I wish the graphics/names in that weren't so goofy; It would be like Angband or Nethack with a really good tileset.

Eeeh, I hate it when people get new avatars. The avatar is what my mind associates as a person's face, and it confuses me for months (not even kidding) when I see a different one and I think it's a totally different person. All in all, I'm heavily resistant to change. Progress is great, but not just change. (Not that any of that matters to anyone but me. )
-
Did your avatar have those sunglasses before and I just didn't notice them?
-
Heh, radius instead of radians! Makes me think of when I kill a spider in Skyrim and its leg starts dancing like a ferret on cocaine with a pair of maracas tied to its legs.

"Dimensions" or some parallel world mod (Now a Mystcraft thread)
jakj replied to PringleMan's topic in Cafe Lame
Re: "Dimensions" or some parallel world mod That's basically a checksum error...interesting. It does just sound like things are getting installed incorrectly, or they're wrong from the start and show that as a symptom. I shall mess with it when I happen to mess with it, but if anyone else reading this wants to try also, I encourage it. (Note: You see two stack traces but that's actually only one error; The first one is only reporting that something went wrong, and then it prints out what actually went wrong.) -
Disable EE from transmuting a specific item
jakj replied to perpetualgamer's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
You'd have to rewrite EE entirely to get something like that to work. Right now it just does simple addition and comparison out of a numeric table. It'd be like trying to make 1+1=1. -
Disable EE from transmuting a specific item
jakj replied to perpetualgamer's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Still the same possible issue, if the EE client makes assumptions based on the value, puts the item in the client's inventory when the server hasn't, and then kerboom eventually. I have not looked at the EE source to see whether or not this would work. You could do that with nothing but reflection, though, so no decompiliation or base-class editing. -
Re: [Let's Play] Tekkit to the Bridge Eh, I like all his voices except Griswold. I would actually like that one too except how he keeps grabbing syllables and stretching them out like taffy; Makes it take too long. I do fast-forward through all the bits where they read out the "quest text" though, in their adventure-map playthroughs. So boring.

Re: [Let's Play] Tekkit to the Bridge Yes, what he said, 100%. I don't really see anything the Yogscast does as forced, though I avoid SoI as if it had every disease ever grown. Their Minecraft "let's play" stopped being entertaining for me about five minutes after they found that first little town.
