As far as I've seen, it does not protect against BC pipes. I have seen a post on here somewhere (forums changed, so I have to find it again) about a WorldGuard/WorldEdit modification that would assist in protecting against placement of said pipes, but last I checked it wasn't completely finished.
Also, as for above listing of items for LWC - Apparently LWC does not distinguish blocks via their modifier (ie: 213:7), so when you include a block that has a range of blocks included such as Coke Brick, those are locked as well. I'll probably be removing auto protect due to this so my database doesn't turn into a cluster f*
