  1. Don't mean to push an old thread with another post, but I do have to say - this thread provided the laugh I needed this morning.
  2. In case it wasn't clear what Backplague stated previously: The coder of EE is planning on implementing a way of changing EMC values, but it is not implemented and does not have an ECD.
  3. I wouldn't necessarily call myself an asshole, and I'd bet over 95% of the people who have played on the servers I've run would attest that I am not. Where I DO get regarded as an asshole is when I don't allow variances to clearly-defined rules or special treatment of those that somehow think it's owed to them. While we're on the topic, the bane of my existence is anyone - regardless of age - who thinks they can trot up to a project/server/forum/etc that someone else has invested much of their own time selflessly and expect to get something because they requested it. Seriously, what happened to the values of "you get what you work for" and "patience is a virtue", to where so many people these days think they are owed something without putting any effort into it themselves? Whether that be using a search bar to find info on a forum/Google/Wiki, realizing that people working on the Technic project have a real life and other issues in the modding world that restrain their timeframe of releases, or the constant nagging of "when is the admin shop going to be opened" when there are much more significant issues that need to be addressed that affect running and playing on a server? This instant gratification attitude of today is absolute bs. That being said, thank you to those that work on projects/servers/provide valuable answers or input on the forums. I know putting up with these frustrations is cumbersome, and you don't get paid for doing what you do, and may even be paying out of your own pocket, but your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed. Well said!
  4. Delete the EE files on the server and you don't have to worry about EE at all
  5. Best thing I could suggest is to browse the servers listed within these forums. Most of us list the most prominent/interesting plugins. I've also listed quite a few on other topics I've posted on. Have a look around ;)
  6. It sounds like you have some good ideas. I'd suggest taking key words from your ideas and running searches through the filter bar on dev.bukkit.org and looking through the multitude of options available. One concern I would have, your rules seem like they can be really restrictive. Being a whitelisted server, that might be okay. I've been running only public/greylist servers since early alpha. Create an interesting spawn or structure to show off on your thread. As to essential plugins, I'd consider these mine: Essentials (ban, kick, teleport, vanish, homes, warps, the basics and more of what a server needs to function) EssentialsSpawn (spawn) PermissionsEX (permissions system) ModifyWorld (can limit world interraction via permissions) LWC (chest/door protection) LogBlock (or similar logging plugin compatable with Tekkit- CoreProtect, SWatchdog also work) WorldGuard (to prohibit things from happening to the world or specified zones) WorldBorder (Keep your people caged in a limited map - no trailing "fingers") diablecraft (disable crafting recipies)
  7. You can check mine out here: http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/24-7-3-1-1-public-the-oils-of-oasis-40-slot.17325/ We've only gone public for a week and have significant traffic. I'll actually be pushing the server and DNS to an upgraded server tonight or tomorrow. We meet all of your requests, as I'm gearing the server to the typical survival mode. Nothing's free Other than that, if you're just looking for a temporary home, browse the open server forum. There's lots to choose from.
  8. HostAltitude is based out of the UK and I know they have plans up to 4GB. They ran excellent while I used them, but quickly outgrew the standard available packages.
  9. Oh dang, I might be wrong, but I think the option in the config is new >.< Edit: I can't find any guide on the configuration of redpower. Anyone happen to know how to properly configure the blacklists?
  10. Delete your railcraft.dat file in your world folder.
  11. Nocheat has issues with Buildcraft Quarries and Computercraft turtles and probably more that I cannot remember if you're planning on using them.
  12. Well, you don't have to worry about it getting added to your "record". We don't use mcbans (I would never support Firestar) or the like, and if we did, it'd only be a local ban - as it's just our prefered method of grey-listing our server. We figure if someone really wants to be unbanned, they'd have read the intro post and responded to the ban accordingly. TIP: There's a hint somewhere above.
  13. Seeing how as I'm one myself, not really. I guess it's more people in general with no "common sense" that irritates me. I'm just stuck with the same engineers every day at work and it's additionally frustrating when I'm working people that are smart enough that they design missile systmes, vehicles and nuclear power plants, but have no "common sense" on how to interract appropriately with the real world and people around them. *common sense in quotes because I believe it's not common anymore Also, quote of the week:
  14. You need Vault to enable economy and I use PermissionsEX for my permissions setup.
  15. Since Deployers and Block Breakers act as a player (forcing us to OP [RedPower]), it may be possible to impose permissions similar to a player and use modifyworld to prohibit placement. Not sure. I'd thought about that this morning on my way into work because I'm having issues with Block Breakers and cobble farms. I don't want to disable Block Breakers entirely, but need an alternative option to disable cobble farms. I'll have to try it out myself once I get home this evening, but just a thought.
  16. Again, can't comment any further on the errors because I'm not familiar with Towny, but I do know that there are several servers here that run Towny sucessfully, so hopefully you'll get noticed by one of them. As for alternative options, take a look at Factions and Residence and their respective addons to see if they might provide what you're looking for while you're waiting for an answer.
  17. You're correct, there is a fix here and I do have it installed. I just don't have any issues typing "/weather sun" or "/gm" and if all it does is link those few buttons to the client-side mod, I have no use for it anyway. Also, it's kind of a pet-peeve of mine that a programmer providing something to the public wouldn't fix a known issue that imposes potential exploits to those who aren't necessarily aware of how to manually fix them themselves. I've been programing automated systems for 10 years now and have worked with many different programmers with many different attitudes. I can't stand the kind of attitude and disregard the NEI author has shown over fixing 1 or a few lines of code that he's completely aware of. I'd just rather not deal with his "product" at all.
  18. Well, I can't say that will specifically solve your issue as I don't actually use Towny myself. Just wanted to make sure you were aware that 3.0.4 would require backwards-compatible or older plugins.
  19. Oh, I'm not claiming credit. I was just saying I'd have to compare the IDs to ensure my config matches up (nothing missing). But - as a general rule, it's usually proper to give credit to whoever provided a file/etc that you post elsewhere.
  20. I love you, nohomo lol. I typically try to forcefully prod them in the general direction, but that depends on how many engineers I've argued with at work that day.
  21. PM me so I remember once I get home and I'll send you the modifyworld permissions you'll need to accomplish this.
  22. Very appreciated Nightfury. I'll have to compare that listing with mine and...(OCD-can't resist)...numerically sort the list. Thanks bud!
  23. Just have to say mike, the effort you put into your plugin(s) and the inclusion of the community makes you one of my favorite authors (not to mention your monkey avatar). Do you have a link somewhere that I could send you a token of our appreciation from my server? The only issue I've ever had with dynmap is the massive config that I obviously don't completely understand and tend to send the map service into the void at times lol (more testing on local server).
