  1. Yup, looks awesome, I'm not sure if it really validate the account name on minecraft.net, that would be a big help because some of those hacked clients allow the users to change their name, so if they give you a fake username that would normally not validate on minecraft.net you can know why there's no bans on any of the sites, its probably a brand new name they choose because they were banned too many times. I would suggest that Mojang keep a list like that in their records, that would help a lot of server admins, but at same time, Mojang don't really care about griefers, they pay big money for their accounts (some griefers get a new Minecraft account as soon as they are banned, most of them are from filthy rich parents that don't care about education of their kids and give them wathever they want...)
  2. And what about no ender dragons at all, I've recreated the end 5 times and still, no ender dragons showing up there, its not disabled and I made sure of this (options in Essentials allow to disable some mobs but enderdragons aren't disabled there, only creeper explosions), even I can spawn one in the overworld, in the end or in the Nether and it works, but if I don't spawn one, there's no ender dragons that show up there, and if we beat the one I spawn, there's no portal to get back to the overworld (thanks to the warps we can still travel anywhere at least)
  3. If there's no buildings there, just wipe the world_nether folder from your server and get back in normally this will recreate a new nether from scratch and should solve your problems.
  4. Whitelist your server and ban the ones that do this, check their ban status on other servers before approving anyone joining your server, I saw a nice little tool on minecraftforum right there, it scan the name of the players and report if its banned on any known server ban lists (there's quite a few, the one I know is mcbans but I know there's are some others too) this is the priority tool I will use when I decide my server to be open or not (not sure yet, still love the small private friends and family thing, don't have to do a OP and admin job too much and don't want to do it either.
  5. Classic, change the ItemID of the Mill in config/Forestry folder, I think someone mentioned you can change it to 4094 I use another number, can't remember which one right now, don't forget to do the same on your client config and to everyone client config that want to connect to your server.
  6. Nope, just change the IDs of the SecretRoomMod.prop file in your config folder, here are mine, they work fine and you don't have to change any RP2 ID, this cause a load of troubles if you change RP2 ID for some reason, better change the conflicting ID from the new mod you're trying to install rather than the one that is already working fine in Tekkit : camoButtonBlock=938 camoIronDoor=934 camoLeverBlock=936 camoPlateAllBlock=939 camoPlatePlayerBlock=940 camoRedstoneBlock=937 camoTrapDoor=932 camoWoodDoor=933 ghostBlock=942 oneWay=943 shelfButton=944 shelfCurrent=945 shelfGate=941 shelfGateExt=931 shelfLever=925 torchLever=946
  7. I've managed to install it and it works but not at 100%, some blocks are invisible on SMP and don't work really well sometimes the author knows about it but he's working on 1.3.2 version so won't have any new version for 1.2.5 for now, can I suggest you to take a look at secretswitch bukkit plugin, really a nice tool to hide button and lever (switch) quickly, be advised that this mod require at least a piece of regular redstone to work, the rest of the circuit could be made with red alloy wire and it works #1 with all the nifty stuff from RP2, it won't protect you from hacked clients that can see all the chests like an xray mod, but will protect you from basic noob griefers somehow.
  8. Are you sure you got the right Forestry for your tekkit server (bukkit) from mcportcentral.co.za and not the classic server (not bukkit) version from the official forestry website, I'm just taking a guess here, maybe I'm totally wrong, also make sure both versions are the same client version 1.4.8.6 for BC 2.2.14 server bukkit port 1.4.8.6 for BC 2.2.14
  9. Real test would be with around 10-15 players each in their own age exploring it with a swiftwolf rending gale at the same time, if your server doesn't run out of memory in a flash with that, I may consider trying it on my 2gb server to see if 2-3 players could be handled somehow, but I really doubt it.
  10. Just drag everything from the tekkit server.zip file in both the root directory and the jar directory (except the world, world_Nether and World_End that aren't needed there), if you don't have access to the jar folder, you won't be able to run tekkit except if you follow the trick Nemmie posted, in that case I don't think you need access to the jar folder, but you will have to rename the tekkit.jar to bukkit.jar after deleting the bukkit.jar that is on your root directory.
  11. Good Luck, this mod isn't made to be SMP friendly and unless Mojang find a way to reduce memory used by each chunk or a miracle is found, it will eat your ram for breakfast, cause each world (or age) that a player is in will have to be kept loaded in memory, do the math, 10 players on 10 age, 10x more memory needed for your server, 10x more lag...
  12. We learn new things every day, hell I know a lot about Tekkit and still didn't know that in Vanilla Minecraft we could teleport using Ender Pearls, I wonder what else I don't know about Vanilla Minecraft, I consider myself a Minecraft junky here, even if I started to play on 1.2.x (not beta or alpha here, the real 1.2.x (think it was 1.2.3 but could have been 1.2.4) I had a brief hacked experience with a cracked client on 1.1 then when I realised how cool the game was, I had to buy it straight away.
  13. I know I'M a little off topic here, What ???, you can teleport using ender pearls, didn't know that, if its true that means I'm playing Minecraft since february 20 without knowing that ender pearls could do that, awesome thing to know, was sure they were only used to find the end with a recipe.
  14. Going to bet if you used world download it should work, just place the files in the modpack.jar instead of minecraft.jar I got the Ships and Boats like that and it works #1 (only in SSP there, Ships and Boats isn't SMP yet and not bukkit ported either but still fun in a ssp map I created)
  15. It won't help to show every griefers how to penetrate forcefields, there should be a way to have private guides that are restricted to some of us that would be helpful but again, some day a griefer will be granted access to that by following the guidelines and such for so long that we will grant him access and 2-3 hrs later, he will grief on a server, I've checked some griefing videos on youtube and some teams don't even know how to use their EE tools properly (lucky for the server owners at least) most of them seems to be between 10 to 15 yrs old, probably spoiled teens that have everything they want and have nothing else to do but destroy the hard work of others just to piss them off because they wouldn't be able to learn how to build great things. they can't listen for more than 5 minutes (would say they are at the level of a 5yrs old on maturity level for most of the ones I've seen)
  16. That is why I gave up on playing on any public server, I would love to play with a bunch of people but its not possible to never get griefed or hacked or our stuff stolen. If only there was a way to have servers with some kind of giant blacklist and admins and OP would be able to add any griefer name to the database (or better, the name is automatically added once you ban someone there) so they wouldn't be able to join any new servers that have a whitelist and automatically check their names to make sure they aren't on the blacklist database.
  17. Just build your base where no one would ever think of building it, underwater bases are classic perhaps, but what if you hide yourself underwater then underground with a hidden base under your main underwater base, also a trick is to hide your stuff too, not all at the same place, so if griefers found some of your stuff, you still have something left somewhere to start over. I'll admit that some of the videos on youtube made me quite worried about hiding chests, there's are some shaddy hacked clients that can find them they will appear in red in their client, no matter where you hide them, some of theses nasty hackers should be whipped with a mouse for their creative work to help griefers.
  18. Now that we are far into IC2 things, we did our Quantum Suits including the helmet, 1 thing that I don't like and maybe is stupid for a lot of people is that the quantum helmet keep us fed so we don't need to eat at all, I don't like this part of the Quantum Helmet, is there anywhere we could set it up so it doesn't keep us fed and we still have to eat food like normal. Keep in mind here is that the power I love from that helmet is going underwater without any troubles (no drowning of any kind and don't have to worry about having the evertide amulet in my hotbar whenever I jump in the water) I don't want to use any of the armors from EE, they give so much powers that it would ruin the game for me and my brother, especially the abyss helmet.
  19. Found out it doesn't work in SMP somehow, at same time, its not bad if you consider that some people would protect their base with archangel smite rings on pedestal, that could be extremely dangerous.
  20. I want to use the EE Pedestal with the Harvest Goddess Band to make farms grow, is there any ways to activate the Pedestal or is it simply not working ???
  21. Exactly, that would be equivalent of loading 10 world for 10 people, there's not any server that would be able to keep up under 1000$ by month for this. Great mod, great porting idea, but unless Mojang find a way to decrease the memory used by each chunk loaded, this would never work on a SMP server sadly.
  22. I'M not exactly sure how it could unload a spawn area because if someone want to connect and the spawn isn't loaded, they will fall through void here, but maybe I'm wrong with that, I'm not a pro about bukkit servers (tekkit is bukkit with the most awesome mods of all) I know a lot and try to share my knowledge but I learn a lot also from reading the forums here.
  23. Problem with Mystcraft is that its made for SSP, like buildcraft was made, on your own computer in SSP mode once a mystcraft age is loaded the other age you were or the main overworld is unloaded since its not needed cause you're not there anymore, but on a server with more players, the overworld will be kept loaded in memory along with each mystcraft age with a player in them. Unless the author of Mystcraft find a way to avoid taking memory for each world (or age) loaded, this will cause lag on lets say 90% of current tekkit servers most of them don't have more than 8gb of ram.
  24. Keep also in mind that once you settled up all the configs on the server (to resolve any ID conflicts), you will have to provide it to your players (usually just zip the config folder from your server and unzip it in your client tekkit and overwrite everything when asked, otherwise your clients won't be able to connect even if they have the mods, the config files must be exactly the same for everyone.
  25. Sorry I was blind somewhat, forget my request here, thanks for your help.
